Arya wasn't would not have even went to WF if Jon wasn't there.

Take this for what it is worth, I hate it.

- Euron's fleet takes down Rhaegal.

- Jaime betrays the North. Missandei is captured.

- Dany's army captures Jaime. Brienne tries to talk to him but he refuses.

- Sansa tells Tyrion about Jon's lineage. Tyrion tells Varys.

- Varys betrays Dany because he thinks Jon would be a better ruler.

- Cersei has Missandei executed.

- Dany has Varys executed. Dany assaults King's Landing and it's one-sided as hell.

- Tyrion begs her to show mercy but she refuses.

- Tyrion frees Jaime to try to get Cersei out of the city.

- King's Landing gets wrecked in the battle. Drogon burns Euron's fleet.

- The Hound fights his brother. They both die.

- Jaime fights Euron and kills him, but Jaime is mortally wounded.

- Jaime makes it to Cersei and they die together.

- Dany is executing everyone in King's Landing. Jon and Tyrion are upset.

- Dany has Tyrion arrested to be executed for freeing Jaime.

- Tyrion tries to convince Jon that his family will never be safe because his lineage makes him a threat to Dany's rule.

- Jon tries to talk to Dany but she justifies her actions.

- Jon pledges himself to Dany but then stabs her, then surrenders himself.

A council gets formed to decide who the King should be. Tyrion gives a speech and everyone votes on Bran to become King. The end.

In the epilogue, Jon takes the black again for killing Dany. Arya leaves. Sansa rules the North. Bran oversees his council of Tyrion, Davos, Sam, and Bronn

Numbers51 is a hypocrit
I would hate that very much. Where does it come from?

I hesitate to say it definitely won't happen after seeing how the War against the Dead went. If that taught me anything it's that these writers are going for shock value. I think the way the story was being told by Martin, everything meant something. You could see where it was going and there would be very little variation based on the fact he took the time to go so in depth with the story telling. Don't know if the books will ever be finished now but I have to believe it would depict the great war very differently as well as who sits on the throne in the end.

With the show, they've had a long run and, at times, went very slow as to tell the same story. Now it seems like a rush to a shortened finish line where they're not concerned with where the story was headed, but just trying to outguess the viewers and go for shock value.

Still there's some things in your spoiler that I think are too outrageous even for TV writers.

For 1, Jamie has already betrayed his own sister who bore his children. Don't see any going back to her now so why betray the other side as well?
Euron's fleet? Didn't dickless and his sister just take it back?

Bran, King of the 7 kingdoms? He's not Bran any more and he's not really 3 eyed Raven anymore so....... why? You're just left with a creepy annoying ****.

Jon take the black again? For what purpose exactly? NK and his army are dead.

Guess the other things could happen but....meh, it'd be kinda pathetic.

I can grasp the point of the episode, I did.

While still calling out the writers for shitty writing.

Same can be said of those complaining the episode was too dark to see what was happening.

"You're missing the point, it was supposed to be dark and chaotic and make you feel as confused as the characters."

K well I can still feel it was a bad Production choice.
I can see your points and I really would have like to seen about half the episode I couldn't see.

From the books I rate chapters

Bran
Arya
Jon
The rest blah

In order of enjoyment. The bran and Arya stories were great in the book. Now on the show Arya was still great but bran was professor x with hair
Bran is just annoying in the show. Any less annoying in the books?
Idk if any of you play Total War games, but the Winterfell battle plan felt alot like when you play the AI and just cheat because they do Special person shit like charging you with their light cavalry right out the gate and you can kill them all.

Night King dying also resonated.... lol the end.... you have victory in hand and somehow your triumphant general gets cut down randomly.
What did you make of Jon's WTF moment where he stands up to stare ice dragon down and screams at him right as Arya is stabbing NK?
They had dragons. They just deployed them poorly.

Probably a good reason to scout the enemy before engaging. Or you know just wait for them to show up. Not sure what the urgency was in going to try and meet them in the dark.
It's the one thing Bran can do, warg and "fly" as it were. Could have probably saved the Dothraki from taking off, leaving all other allies behind, too soon.
Did Gilly die?
She's gonna unless she adopts a Keto lifestyle.

@Spartan the bran chapters in the books were so interesting. You couldn’t wait for his chapters to pop up. Brienne chapters were probably the worst

View attachment 1503Interesting going to have to rewatch a little closer

Seems a little dubious as how the hell did Arya get to the NK before the Dragon killed Jon? Did the dragon just wait patiently for Arya to get close enough to kill the NK.

Also not sure the screaming would be necessary when the dragon was already focused on Jon and tried to burn him several times.

But I guess we can presume Arya has Usain Bolt speed. Wouldnt be the first time the show made characters travel at super speed.

originally they had 80-100k, I was being conservative in my estimate. Granted, showing 20k extras wasn't going to happen, but these are conservative estimates.

Again, where is that number from because I don't remember getting such a number when Dany got Dothraki to join her.

I think the number you're referring to might be wild estimates from the Small Council in like season 1 about Khal Drogo's group which broke into pieces after he died.

Think about it, if Dany had 80k-100k Dothraki alone, she could have left half to destroy the Golden Company which is only 20k strong.

If she had 80-100k Dothraki, the North/Vale/Wildings/Night's Watch bring enough to the table that you are talking about matching the Night King's army in size or at least getting within 10-20% of him.

80-100k Dothraki and their horses seems wildly unrealistic.

Drawing the Night King's Army in to attack Winterfell, a stronghold defended by a large alliance of Dothraki, Unsullied, North, Vale, Night's Watch, and and Wildlings along with 2 Dragons is much more sound strategy than trying to force an unorganized retreat South which would leave the Night King to enlarge his forces with all civilians left behind, as well as force you to eventually pick a worse stronghold than Winterfell.... eventually you have to stand and fight.

Furthermore, an organized retreat South would undoubtedly move too slowly and risk being caught and forced to engage in the open against a much larger enemy that doesn't tire or require food or drink.

There is no strategic decision making in fight or not with an army like the Wights.... you have no choice but to fight (or quit and die I suppose)

Winterfell was the best choice to make a stand, the tactics used in the defense of that stronghold were beyond illogical.

How do wights do with water? Remember Hardhome? Or the ice lake in season 7? Literally any place with a body of water big enough to drown in would've been a better defensive position than Winterfell, a small fort surrounded by open plains and vulnerable to approach from all sides, whose walls are virtually useless because the bulk of your forces have to be deployed outside of them on account of how damn tiny it is. There is literally nothing to canalize the enemy; if you're outnumbered that's the worst damn place to try and fight.

And it's not like they didn't have to option to do an organized retreat. They knew when the Wall was breached, and the NK's army doesn't move particularly fast. The wights only move fast when they're in combat, otherwise they just shamble along (many of them are literally falling apart) and we see plenty of evidence of this over the previous seven seasons. They had plenty of time to retreat with forces intact to Moat Cailin, or north of there, and actually fight at a chokepoint where they couldn't be surrounded, and they still would've been far away enough that Cersei's forces in King's Landing couldn't come up to threaten them.

I understand your point, but disagree.

I don't think the water was ever going to be a great defense, you can't wait them out and they bring Winter with them and freeze the water to ice.

Also recall the Night King had no problem sending his Wights to the bottom of that lake to chain a dead dragon and pull it to the surface, so they can operate in water to some degree, even if it is just sinking to the bottom and walking around.... building a corpse bridge.

If all you have is a Moat they will fill it up and walk over their own dead.

If you hide on the Iron Islands or Dragonstone, they will wait until Winter freezes the water while they kill everything on the mainland and build their army up further.

Winterfell was the most defensible stronghold, in a location that could draw the Night King in, without allowing him to continue building a larger and larger force.

You say the Wight army moves slow, but you forget that when humans stop to rest... eat.... sleep for 8 hrs.... the Wights keep moving, they never stop.

If you evacuate Winterfell you are bringing supply wagons, civilians, you will not move faster than the Wights and you have to stop to sleep/eat while they keep coming. Eventually you are caught out in the open, or you show up at fucking Moat Cailin with way too many people to bring inside.... then wtf happens?

Sorry @fatbeard not buying this idea.

Defending Winterfell, drawing the Night King in when his army was the smallest it would be, was sound strategy.

The tactics used in carrying out that strategy were pathetic, simply because the writers suck sometimes.

Interesting. The best explanation I've seen. While watching it though, I didn't think Jon or anyone else was cognizant of what she was doing.

Then the show ruined him.
Bran did not translate well to the big screen at all imo. It started out good but kept getting worse.

I couldn’t stand Dani chapters in the last 2 books.

The Brienne chapter where so gets her face bitten off was pretty epic.

All her chapters were cringe

Trying to read a chick speaking Dothraki.....sometimes it would take two shits to get through her chapters

I have to rewatch it to really form an opinion on it. These are little things we miss watching in the moment

And then all they do is skip that kill all of King's Landing and surrounding areas and then come back will a million plus undead. Think the object was to defeat them before they could kill the whole continent.

The dude waited 8k years, not really that hard for him to wait a month or two more and wait for all of his killing to force them to fight him.

You literally cannot go south without going through Moat Cailin. The Night King couldn't just bypass it and go rampaging across the continent, then circle back up. Moreover, the Night King was gunning for Bran. Even if the geography permitted it, there's no way he just ignores the Three-Eyed Raven to go on an extended wight-making expedition.

With all the talk of Bran, still left wondering what was his role in the great battle and what's his role going forward? In the war against NK he tells Theon he has to go and apparently wargs into crows to keep an eye on NK, something that would seem to have been much more beneficial before the Dothraki ran ahead blindly. His warging gave the North no advantage and served no purpose as we could see.

The show runners said Arya had to stab NK with the Valeryian dagger right where the dragon glass was put to create him. Are we to assume Bran told her this and knew she'd be the one to deliver the kill shot? Did Jon also know and thus the scene with him screaming at the dead dragon to divert attention away from Arya and NK?

What possible help could Bran be in the war vs Cersei. Again, the warging could be used to easily and safely scout the whereabouts and movement of Cersei's tropps as well as weapons in place aimed at taking down the dragons. This would be a huge insurmountable advantage as you could then come up from behind the Golden company and take them out with dragon fire. Could even take out the weapons in place to take out those dragons before the war even begins. It's Bran's 1 talent but show runners don't seem to understand how to use it optimally in these wars.

Knowing Bran he won't even help lol

He will go "The three-eyed Raven served as an opponent of the Night King, these matters of Westeros are no concern of mine"
