wow i have a headache reading this thread its almost in another language... jesus fellas quit arguing over fuckin STATS. You guys were on topic but for fucks sake you cant leave it alone. Garza has been good unlucky in his run support. But i wont go as far to say he is one of the top pitchers in the game.

I respect this post. :)

But again, Ivy, no one is saying he is one of the best pitchers in the game. For the gagillionth time, he has been one of the best.

Well okay then... what would you use? I've asked you this about 35 times and have never gotten an answer.

I have ansewered.

I will be brief because I am tired of ansewering this.

Basic Stats (all of them including the one I hate being BA, still has to be looked at)

Sabermetrics (All of them can be used to a certain degree except for WAR)

Scouting (In a fan sense that would be the eyes dont lie, watch as much as you can routine) Not all fans have the luxury of this.

Scouting ADV (Literature available per professional scouts on specific pitch types, what specific batters look for ETC)

If sabermetrics were flawless and basic stats told the exact story, there would never be what i call "eyes in the sky" with real pros, on payroll, scouting specific players.

Well i would, except for the way Dewey has gone about his argument. He has used nothing to refute it. I'm still waiting on that...

I'll give you credit you are relentless.... Now if you would only put this much effort into Diving muff, you would be neck deep in pussy:woot:

you cannot read. it has been refuted many times in many threads, you obviously have no clue on how to read and comprehend what people are telling you, or you suffer from disassociation.

Whats next to be brought up? siera?

I'll respond to your other post first... I can not read? You still have not acknowledged that Garza has been one of the best, not is. This thread is about 13 pages in. Therefore, I think it's safe to assume that you cannot read.

As for this post,

What's soooo wrong with WAR that it can not be used?

Why should BA be looked at? It tells what OBP tells, only less. It's obsolete. Raw stats are not good to look at. In fact, they are pretty stupid to use.

As for Garza, that's fine that you want to use this stuff, but who has been better than Garza?

Batting Average is not a great stat, but if you are going to evaluate a player you need every single variable, as OBP is a combination, BA contributes the specifics on how the batter reached VIA a hit

I'll give one situation where I believe batting average is important.

Runner at second base, two outs, 8 hitter at bat with the pitcher on deck.

In this situation a walk does nothing for your team. You need a base hit to score the run.

Just saying.

Oh I agree. But that's BA w/ RISP. I'm talking BA.

So when evaluating Aaron Miles, we should take into account his pitching statistics? That's one of all of the variables.

Yes, if you are evaluating him as a pitcher. If you aren't, and I know you aren't, then you'd just be an idiot.

Are you fucking stupid? really this fucking stupid?

because that isnt a sample size to the extreme. cmon now...you look really dumb CO.

You do realize we arent evaluating miles as a pitcher, but as an infielder right? Try Again.

Im done debating this with someone this stupid.

Well bravo on missing the entire point. Seems to be a theme for you. The point is, if you're evaluating a player for a certain thing, why are you going to use all the variables?
