The six championships are because of Jordan. If Pippen was never traded from Seattle on draft day, he would probably be ringless.

I was much more impressed with Scottie's defense than his offense. But I am impressed at what he was able to become. He was an extremely versatile player and was an essential reason the Bulls won 6 titles. But he was not the reason- that was Jordan.

Wilkens had a team built around him. If Pippen had a team built around him also, you would not be hearing the phrase 6-time NBA champion Scottie Pippen.

You also would not hear the phrase 6-time NBA champion Michael Jordan.

Maybe 2 or 3 spread through out his career. Or maybe you would just know him as that guy who scored alot, won mutiple scoring titles, but never won a ring ala Ewing, Barkley, ect.

I guess we'll never know. All we can go on are facts.

I don't understand why Pippen is being equated to a franchise player, if Seattle thought he was a franchise player coming out of the draft, they wouldn't have traded him.

It means that Pippen was never a franchise player....the Bulls did not acquire Pippen to be a franchise player.

It means that Kobe was not a franchise player....the Lakers did not acquire Kobe to be a franchise player.

Defense and competive drive are natural with Pippen.
Athletism, high basketball IQ and talent was already posessed in Pippen before he was a Bull with or without Jordan...

I think the real question should be, would All Pippens talents been harnessed properly without Phil Jackson or without a great coach?
The same question goes for MJ.

I pretty much already did. It's just a guy who typically can put butts in the seats and a guy who takes responsibility night-in and night-out for what happens (wins and losses). I don't think Pippen classifies as a franchise player. He was certainly the best player on the team when Jordan was out for 18 months but it's not like that whole team was built around him.

Are you smart enough to know that in trying to diminish Pippen your own words just made him seem even better?

If you lose your "franchise player" there's a good chance most teams won't win 25 games let alone make the playoffs and be one bad call away from the Conf. finals.

As you said the team was built around Jordan and he wasn't there in 94.

So with a team not even built for him, Pippen led a team to only 2 less
wins than the previous season after losing there franchise player and were projected to win less than 20 games that season.

That sounds like a franchise player to me.
