I'd like that someone to explain why he's the right choice other than, "It's time for a change from Thibs."

Hoiberg has stated clearly that he would give big time minutes to McDermott. That is the answer to everything:)

upsets happen in college but i'll take the L

i still want Freddy as coach....one game doesn't change my opinion on him as a coaching prospect

to me Thibs is gone regardless....so it shouldn't even be a Thibs vs Hoiberg debate...it should be Hoiberg vs whoever

This is funny. Hoiberg? So he is a better coach than Thibs? Shouldn't even be in the discussion with Thibs? Really? What, pray tell, has Freddy Hoiberg done to justify this job? What pro teams has he coached to winning records? What college teams has he led to championships?

What seperates Freddie Hoiberg over say Steve Alford? Both of those guys could hit the three point shot. Is that the criteria?

what? you misread what i said to the fullest extent

anyway despite the upset, hes has done a great job at Iowa State. hes a great offensive mind and is very sought after as a potential NBA head coach ....this guy isn't Tim Floyd Part II

folks that are knocking him need to study up on him more...theres not a better prospect on the market as far as im concerned...if Thibs is let go, HE IS the ideal candidate to replace him

I know the thread title is IF the bulls fire Thibs, but isnt that "If" a pretty slim chance? I mean, theres really not much going on besides the minutes restrictions. It even looks like they have an arrangement and Thibs is respecting that with the whole Noah not playing on Tuesday. If anything the minutes restriction shows that he would be staying, as they have reached an arrangement on it.

I just don't see it happening. Beyond the fact that is would be ridiculous, there's not that much drama.
Then again, I didnt believe that Brandon Marshall was going to be traded.

actually its the exact opposite

its a disconnect between them that has been brewing for the last 2-3 years and it seems its coming to a head

Thibodeau actually shitted on the minutes restriction and basically said it infereing with his ability to win games...read what he said...the "but i'll do what im told" bit was smartassy

Yeah, but the point is that he's still doing it. The Chicago Bulls are a business, and the FO doesn't have to love Thibs, just be able to work with him. Especially considering that he's delivering on the court. Let him disagree, just as long as he's not insubordinate.

I also feel that talk radio is just playing this up for a storyline. There's really not that much news for the issue to be "coming to a head."

Maybe I'm just in Thibs-firing denial....

Think about this .... after this game, how do you think Fred could do with the talent on the Bulls roster? Fred has a little bit of a Love affair going with IS, so this loss is ammo for him leaving, imo.

i think Fred would be marvelous with our younger core as i feel they would be good in a uptempo style

as far as him leaving because this loss? i don't know, i think the opposite...its a bad note to leave on

we'll see what happens...maybe thibs doesn't even get fired this offseason

But that's just it! He's not delivering. Sure, he has a great regular season winning %, but it's the post season that counts. You say the Bulls are a Business, right? Well, the bottom line for their Business is winning when it counts, right?

Right now, with his current body of work, he in below average when it comes to winning when it counts. We can talk about injuries, we can talk about minutes, but in reality, the only thing that matters is wins, right?

This is Thib's 5th year. He has yet to win when it counts. THIS IS THE BOTTOM LINE OF THE BULLS BUSINESS! The question that must be asked, is how many years should management go with Thib's NOT winning when it counts.

BUSINESS, is about performance. I don't know any elite management people that allow negative performance when it counts, let alone for multiple years. You ask what is another reason that Thib's should be let go?

It's simply..... for not delivering the Business bottom line when it counts. :dunno:

So much yelling in that post.[emoji26]

I don't see how the lack of playoff results fall on anything but injuries to Rose. He was the core of our offense very year until now. I do get that last year's playoffs were underwhelming but again injuries.

I guess the question for me is what would he have to have done to not be in the chopping block. I mean realistically too, obviously a title would be ample.

Like, would it be any different if they beat the wizards only to lose in the ECF to the heat? And on the other side of that, would Scot skiles have gotten them there, or even to where Thibs did?

If the move is for a better coach, then I have no issue. I just don't think there is.

Yeah, good point, I can see that. That's called character. I like that. We need that on the Bulls, imo. I'm ready for something different than the strict army drill Sargent, which is what Thib's brings to the table, imo. I Love Thib's, I really do, I've just concluded that he can't take that next step relating to the players of today.

AG did say that this is NOT a Thib's vs Fred thing. The question is who is the best replacement for Thib's. One reason is the Iowa connection, which should help the management/coach relationship.

Another, is the fact that Fred actually played for the Bulls. Another is the fact that Fred has had Heart problems. Before you criticize me for that, that's the kind of thing that brings important perspective to the table.

You can look at the one recent game, imo, but his body of work has been pretty good over the recent body of work. He also has related to the players very well at the College program, which in today's NBA, I think is important.

#1 choice to replace thibs?

i told you, hes a great offensive mind

why do i think hes qualified? well hes played in the NBA, has dabbled in GM work, has coaching experience (college, but does run a pro-style offense)...i even posted a article with REAL general managers vouching for the guy

what more do you want?

He's a great college offensive mind. His half-court offense is no different than what you'd see from the Knicks, Sixers, Kings, and even......(gasp) the Bulls. I've watched a dozen of ISU games this year, and a half dozen last year. I see absolutely nothing in his offense that the Bulls don't already do.
