Nah, he's garbage. Guy has zero feel for pitching. Lester is extremely pissed that he was pulled.

He's a sinker ball pitcher who can't keep the ball down. Fucking ridiculous

I think every one knew a change was coming there. Alcantara can not recognize it. I suspect he will see tons of them going forward.

I really need somebody to explain to me why Brian Schlitter still has a job on this 25-man roster.

Grimm and Ramirez are hurt that's why sadly. Also, not a great deal of pitching depth yet from the new regime. Most is in lower minors.

I think Lester should have finished the 6th

The Cubs bench is pretty awful. That has to change before this team can actually be looked at as serious contenders

This is what i dont get from maddon and why Ross is even on this team..

its 6th inning. . He only has 4 bats on bench. .. he uses Alcantara for Ross and Montero for the pitcher.. im assuming montero stays in for Ross. . Ross sucks that much he has Alcantara PH for him and can only catch Lester.... now their down to castillo and Denorfia as PH in final 3 inning or extras.. SMH

The injuries you mentioned are why we see Schitter. They do actually have pretty good BP depth.

I understand Ross is Lester's guy, but if Lester isn't going to put up Cy Young numbers, we can't be wasting a roster spot on a guy just so he can catch for him every 5th day. Ross is a patient guy at the plate and can take walks, but he can't hit

No reason to carry 3 catchers on this team

Now that Bryant has fixed 3B, the biggest hole on this team is by far the bench. But can't really improve it at this point. Once La Stella and Baez are back that should help things a lot

Blackhawks better win To offset the disappointment of this game

Somewhat a better outing by Lester, 3 runs into the 6th...
Im more disappointed in the bats not breaking through cashner early when he was struggling. ..
Bullpen is gassed from overuse the last few games...

Hopefully they have another come back in them today..

Can someone explain the logic behind Alcantara off the bench? I realize the guy is struggling(.080/.233/.080) but what's the logic behind avoiding throwing away PAs with Alcantara only to throw away PAs on Herrera(.182/.217/.182)? I mean Alcantara is 23 and may have a future and Herrera is 30 and has been a career replacement level guy. Only thing I can think of is that since they are going with a short bench Alcantara offers more in terms of a sub because he can play OF plus most of the IF, switch hits and runs well. I just don't see how you're realistically going to work through those hitting issues as a young guy seeing 1 or 2 PAs a game. Feel like he needs to start be it in the majors or at AAA.

I would much rather see Alcantara in the lineup. He needs PA's.
