He played 2nd only late in games until we were down a man. Now he plays the whole game. And we are playing .500 ball lately. Go figure.

Its all Castro and his .345 Avg in last 30 games fault for the team .500 record lately and not Haren, Hammel, Hendricks, shakey bullpen, etc..

Defensively last 30 games. .. 135 chances 6 errors


And look who just made a great defensive play for a inning ending DP in 9th. ..

But there is a reason the veteran SS lost his job to a rookie, and as a lot here point out, it wasn't for his offense. It was for his defense. It's not hard to get. Those are the facts. I was reading the big data book on the pirates season of 2013 iirc. It's interesting talking about him in particular because they found LF in pit plays more like a typical CF in difficulty. They mentioned that most viewed him moving to LF as a knock against him but in their case they needed both him and McCutchen as CF level defenders to man that OF.
