Baez fault and Heyward should have caught that ball. Beaz has to stop the bullshit of running into rightfield and let the outfielders do their job. Selfish on his part

Because if he would have stopped, Heyward could have covered 15 more feet? C'mon! Heyward broke backward. That was why he didn't get there.

Nice to see Heyward finally elevate himself into an average MLB hitter, better late than never.

Heyward would have gotten that ball, but moron Baez scared him off of it. It's a bad and stupid habit that Baez has picked up and he needs to stop before he seriously injures someone just because he is showing off

Only 5 more years of average plate statistics at a cheap $23 million per season

So...Heyward broke backwards, yet Baez was at failt for not immediately knowing where the ball would land. Immediately. Off the bat. Ok.

He just made a tremendous play running one down at the wall a day or two ago. He gets to balls few second basemen do. But he should stop chasing them?

He's trending at about a 3.5-4 WAR player right now which would be worth that salary using $8 mil/WAR but don't ever expect him to make up those two lost years. The other thing is that as fans we worry way too much about money. It's not like we're paying his salary. I'm just glad to see him contribute. He's an easy guy to root for.

He made one from shortstop and then made one on the other side from second base. Nothing is good enough for this guy breaking the bank at 657,000. He completely changed the 11th with an OMG walk, steal of second, taking third and taunting Braun to throw the ball or he would have tried to score. Then that Fat Alberts was so concerned about Javy stealing home he struggled with Russell and then Russell got on first it was game on for Javy to go home, which completely opened up the Zobrist at bat and the flood gates followed.

No mention of any of that, just he did not make it 120 feet to catch a ball in right field.

You gotta pay up for any guy who actually becomes a legit threat to steal home... I don't know if you can claim that about any other player in the league.

That was a really satisfying win. But, man, this team is *so* streaky!

Is there any other team in the Majors right now who can go 30 or 40 innings with two or fewer runs, three or four hits, and like 40 K's over that stretch, then suddenly break out for a few 5+ run innings, seemingly at will?

Let's rename the club to the Chicago Feast-Or-Famines...?

I would disagree with that... this team, unlike most every other team in the Majors, has the capability of tossing off big crooked-number innings, again seemingly at will. And, maybe more importantly, they have a pitching staff that can keep the other team from scoring, over an entire game, more than what the Cubs can score in one decent inning, when they get the offense clicking.

This is a team which not only has it, but flashes true greatness. What they need is to find a way to be offensively consistent.

And as someone who has followed an *awful* lot of mediocre Cubs teams over the years, I can tell you, it's *way* better to have a great team struggling to find consistency, than to have a mediocre team struggling to find a decent day or two a week.

Offense in baseball is inconsistent by nature. Sometimes this team falls on the higher end of that scale but the depth keeps it from being a problem. The Cubs have 5 regulars or semi-regulars over 100 wRC+ and another 5 over the league average mark of 100. Only the Yankees can claim anywhere near the same. That allows you to win a lot of ballgames.

This is the first time in what seems like forever that I feel overall confidence with our bullpen as constructed, and feel it is a strength.

No doubt it will take many more cycles for me to find relief from the malady which infected me otherwise known as "Battered Marmol Syndrome".
