With Strop it's simple: he's 34, velocity and spin rate is down and he's getting hit and he knows this is the last chance at a deal and he's not getting one pitching like this. Strop never really handled pressure like that as a reliever and I'm not surprised he's like this now.
he is making 6.5 million this year, he should have enough to live like a king back home.

Strop's sinker was not sinking. He still hits 96 MPH.

I feel that he needs to add a rising fastball also and to attack up in the zone. He has the velocity to go upper zone which also plays off his slider.

So what is the story on Chatwood. I would have thought that he would have come in today with Mills going less than 5 innings. I don't think that he has pitched post ASG.

Probably dont want to use him since he might have gotten some trade value again.

I honestly want to know how many leads the pen has blown. Has to be at least 10+, right?

Yeah. IIRC earlier in the season when the Cubs had (roughly) 22 losses, half of those were blown saves.

Yeah I don’t have Chicago’s WGN down here in Tennessee. WGN doesn’t show cubs games anymore here like they use to in the 90’s and early 2000’s when you could watch 120
Plus games a year. I
Do follow them every game whether they are on tv or not. Basically it has to be on MLB network or fox sports (playing the reds or Braves) or espn for me to see them on TV and they do
Suck on the road and I was reading on another cubs message board that one poster said this has the feel of a
2-7 or 3-6 road trip and I said that is 100 percent correct. Im
Sure they will lose all 3 series. Tonight’s game was big to start the road
Trip off right and to have a good chance to win this first series and it was a total let down after jumping out 3-0 in the 4th but now I’m thinking they will
Lose tomorrow to Mad
Bum 3-1 and possibly win on Wednesday
Go back to that other board. They need you.

I'll be honest here. The Cubs need too much going into the deadline.

The hitting vs LH pitching sucks.

They need a 2nd lefty.

Almora has been futile at the plate.

They addressed the biggest need already via F/A. The rest might end up costing more than Theo wants to pay.

Rays are in on most of the options that Theo is connected to also. So the sellers don't have to accept low-ball offers.

I do think that they should just go after what they don't have right now. That is a lefty in the pen. Palmeranz was hitting 95-96 and had them fooled with his knuckle curve. I'm not against that trade and I doubt that it would cost as much.

Days after losses is quite amazing

It doesn't change the fact that fat panda can't hit RH for shit and the Cubs burnt Ryan early.

That was the reason why I was wondering about Chatwood. Joe had only 1 lefty in the pen and he burnt him up when it should have been Chatwood. Who hasn't pitched sense the 14th.

The Cubs know they need a lefty. They have said it over and over. They will get one. The trade deadline is a deadline for a reason the Cubs arent sitting on their hands. You have two wild card spots and no waiver process after the 31st. The trade deadline is totally different now. At one point, Nationals and Giants were going to be sellers now they may not be because of the 2 wild cards. Teams are going to wait and see.

Also, the WHOLE LEAGUE has bullpen issues. Its an epidemic this year. Teams are going to be fighting for arms.

I'm pretty sure Palmeranz is not on most teams radar after he flamed out a few years back. He has been much better this year and teams will be looking at him as benifiting from another run suppression ball park like he did in Petco.

Which means the asking price is not going to be overwhelming.

They are going to need to lessen the need of playing Almora every day and they need another lefty.

Palmeranz fits into Montgomery's old job and pushes Ryan back into late inning lefty. It would cost something but not a impact deal.

As far as replacing Almora. To be Franck I'm not a fan of any of the proposed trades.

Over payment on a rental who should be a DH is plain dumb.

Blackman is not Blackman outside of Coors and his D is limited now. Add to it his contract is not a simple decision to take on outside of Coors.

That CF from Azl.. basically Aora with SB ability. If it was for Happ strait sure but it is not addressing any core issues. Just a different flavor or CF.

Calhoun I'm down with but his name has not come up much. I see him as the best fit.

IDK. Maybe they should push Contreras into RF full time. Let him play every day and keep status Que with this situation. Mald sucks at hitting but can frame at least.

Cause he would be a butcher out there

This is stupidity in action right here.

You know that there are plenty of shit show corner OF in baseball right. Det is selling one right now.

Contreras has 2 things going for himself right now.

A plus bat.

A plus arm.

Everything else takes time and training. And he has another skill set. He is athletic. Which makes the learning curve smaller.
