Like I said you waste Jake vs their ace. His walks have been the real issue this year.

Again this is why they need to fight to the end. They played the sub game and got crushed by a crap team. As what you expect. Keep it up and Wash will catch up.

The magic number is 8 with 14 games to play each. It's unlikely Washington will catch up.

Mets would be ideal..

Wouldn't matter to me if Lester or Arrieta starts game 1
I just hope Hendricks starts game 2.. Take advantage of him pitching much better at home, rather have him pitching at home then first game on road ( rather have Arrieta Lester Lackey pitch away), plus he would match up against opponent 3

Hendricks pitched 8 no hit innings on the road against the Cards. Pretty impressive. The way Arrieta has been pitching his last several outings. I prefer we don't start him game one. Thinking with our inconsistent offense the odds we be against us. Don't want to be down 0-1 to start a playoff series. So that being said I would start Lester or Hendricks game one

I'd go with Lester, Hendricks and then Arrieta

Of course you start Lester then Hendricks, thats what they're getting the next two games and lets face facts guys, these fucking guys were hung over as shit today and will feel 100% tomorrow after a good night's sleep.
Im going to be in Chicago for the next 3 night games but would be available to meet and discuss shit in person maybe we wind up friends. Please email me @ ed.plucker3@gmail.com.
Cubs are going to destroy the Brewers tomorrow if the wind keeps blowing out i think the Cubs put 10+ runs in the game and Hendricks once again steps in to staunch the bleeding in the bullpen where someone has to step up and win a spot on the 25 man roster.

We gave up 11 runs today. You arent going to win many games that way. Calm down people. Enjoy the ride.

No shit...

The draft didn't start til 1965

So until then they had to go out and find / discover talent and make them offers to play..
Basically it was like recruiting if multiple teams were in on such talent..

I'm just surprise that Chicago during the 40s 50s and into the 60s before the draft couldn't attract more talented players ..
Considering the only other cities in Midwest was Milwaukee Cincinnati and St Louis in NL

It was much more about putting resources into scouting and not finding the players than it was not being able to sign who they found.

Rough game, visiting player finally pinned one off the video board. Maybe Joe goes to sitting two a day going forward, especially at home, we were actually able to see the bleachers yesterday, even though the attendance was announced at 40k

Breathe deep, not loud. The regulars return.

Jake's BB's were the real problem that game. The subs gave him 3 runs which should have been more than enough for Jake to beat those scrubs. But no Jake again can't find the strike zone and beats himself.

What a change a year makes. Last year Jake was pin point this year he is running up his walk totals.

I would coincider trading Jake's last year for future pitching. I feel pretty good with Lester, Hendricks, Lackey, Montgomery, Hammel if they get 1-2 high ended prospects to replace Hammel and Lackey.

Jake may bounce back next year and even then he is pushing 20 wins with a sub 3.00 ERA even when he is having control issues. Some team will over pay.

I know Soler hurting
But
I'm starting to think maybe Maddon goes with Baez glove over Soler in playoff

Be interesting to see how he uses Baez Soler and Contreras
They all can make an impact in a game/series
Just not enough spots to play them all at once

I've been saying they should trade Arrieta in the offseason some time but I think they have to win the WS to it without causing ripples both on the team and in the court of public opinion. If they do win though this might finally be the opportunity to get that cost controlled starter they've wanted. I'd go to Cleveland and see what it would take to get Danny Salazar. You could start with Arrieta and Soler and go from there. Despite their surprising offense this year they still needs bats going forward and they're going to make another WS bid next year but they do have pitching coming in the next few years. My gut tells me it would cost Baez but I'd sure make the phone call.

Wouldn't mind Contreras used in LF again.

I was thinking prospect level more so.

Just saw Montgomery going back to the pen to give him an opportunity to earn a bullpen spot in playoff.

Also if rotation remains the same then everyone but Arrieta (2) should have 3 starts left

Was looking at Det. Think they would be a good match up for Arrieta. They need a ace type. They have Daniel Norris who I would love to see become a staple in the rotation. Add a solid 2nd arm and I would do that deal.

Maybe, but they are in desperate need for a controllable TOR going forward and I don't think you can remove Arriets without at least a #3 to replace him.

Lackey is #3-4 quality. Hendricks has put himself into the #2 category. I'm more concerned with Hammel and Montgomery. You get Noris back and a prospect you think of doing it. All you are thinking at that point is splitting up Lackey and Hammel with a lefty and a high ended arm to look forward to. If they add Soler to improve the return you do it.
