Cubs need to get at least one of Rizzo, Heyward or Soler going. Bryant's been Bryant and Fowler and Zobrist have carried the team.

Richard and Warren in a 0-0 game....gotta be charity from Maddon. What does he have a 12 man staff? Actually it's only 10 with these two just taking up space for the last two weeks. They have to do something to warrant being on the team....he just gave them their shot.

Just realizing if Arrieta doesn't get wild and throw all those pitches in 7th, he comes back out in 8th.

Assuming Heyward doesn't get a hit here, the last two games the cubs have lost in which Arrieta pitched were a no hitter and a one hitter.

Yesterday game with losing Hammel after 2 didn't help the bullpen much..
We ended up sacrificing today for yesterday..
But again, it all means nothing because offense couldn't score

I mean I get where you're going with this comment but not really. They sacrificed today because the had one hit and one walk and 2 hard hit balls that fell about 5-10 feet short of homers. For a team that's has this many good hitters that's not going to get the job done. Though upon reading further guess you do mention that.

I was talking mainly of bullpen..

They used what 4 relievers yesterday, including wood for 4 innings..

So, Maddon really had no choice but to use Richard Warren and Cahill tonight to try and get through that 8th and 9th inning

As far as offense goes, hats off to kazmer and Blanton for pitching a heck of a game..

Now lets get a win tomorrow and i heard Maeda might miss his start on Thursday.. i believe a hand injury

They released and lost Ramirez yet keep Richard

Soler should be in AAA

Rizzo is showing he's over rated more and more

And Maddon should start wearing a clown suit in the dugout

Rizzo prolonged slumps is what stops him from being a superstar. It's also what makes Bryant the better chance to be a superstar. Bryant has shown the ability to not stay in prolonged slumps. Rizzo is going to get hot and it will be a beautiful thing but he is struggling for almost a month now. No hate just is what it is

Means little. Wood was the only guy that went over 1 inning.

The problem is in a tie you go with either Grimm or Strop vs the worst ERA arm in the pen. That is reserved for mop up work.

I have to be honest here are say that was a wasted game. Jake shut them down and the Cubs couldn't get anything off of a 2nd tier SP.

And on Rizzo: his main problem is vs LH this year. He smoked them last year and this year he can't hit them. Also last year if they put the shift on him he would just bunt to 3B as it was wide open.

I believe he is getting away from what he did last year. Maybe it is related to his hot start. But he needs to figure it out.

@BruceMiles2112: Maddon on Clayton Richard: "It was the perfect slot for him to attempt to not beat up bullpen. I have a lot of faith in him." #Cubs

What else is he going to say? He's got to profess faith in his guys. The issue is that he needs a new guy. Ideally you wouldn't be replacing Richard as the #2 lefty pen option but instead replacing Wood who would slide to #2. Lots of talk about Andrew Milker but someone is going to pay handsomely for him, the Yankees would ask for Contreras and a young arm most likely, and I don't think the Cubs will do that. Whatever happens Richard can't be on the staff in August.

If Conception keeps it up he might up in the pen this summer. Edwards also. Warren and Richard need to keep it together or they might end up pushed out.
