I don't know. Strikeouts are at an all time high and velocity keeps increasing. Pitchers are pitching like the dead ball era. The days of guys throwing 300 innings is over. There is no need for it. Teams are going to protect their superstars. Players keep getting better.

Thanks.

You neither defined ace nor proved there were more in the past than today
You mentioned Kershaw for today..
I was showing you I had mentioned Kershaw as being that true Ace of today..

I used Clemens, Johnson, and Ryan as examples of what I feel is a true Ace..

I cant prove it now cause im at work and on phone but I bet if you looked decade to decade say pitchers in 80s , in 90s , and in the 2000s and then for todays from 2010 to 2015..
Youd find more starters who consistantly year after year youd call a true Ace then you would today. .

I know its a little tougher cause its only a 5 yr span but besides the 3 I mentioned jn Kershaw, Hernandez , and Scherzer is there anyone ive missed that has been that dominant True Ace for more then 2 years pitching today ? Like Clemens Johnson and Ryan were in their primes..

And I mentioned Kershaw and Hernandez, along with Scherzer as ones who would be considered that dominant true Ace today..

My whole argument has been as you just named 2 for today, that there aren't as many true Aces today as there have been in the past..

That all im saying. ..

I'd add Chris Sale to that list despite the slow start. His 2015 FIP isn't that far removed from his career average and he has killer stuff. I fully expect him to round into form. Plus he passes your "beyond 2 years test" if you look at the totality of his numbers over the last 3 years they're frankly astounding. If you had those four guys in a draft, today the only one I'd take before Sale is Kershaw.

I did because in #47 you said there are none today.

First off there are guys still going thru their primes. So there very well could be. Most everyone would put Sale and Price in the conversation of Aces with those three.

Iowa Cubs @IowaCubs
Left-hander Tyler Ihrig promoted to Iowa, will start tonight vs. Nashville ... http://atmilb.com/1K551jg via @MiLB

DES MOINES, Iowa - The Chicago Cubs today promoted left-handed pitcher Tyler Ihrig to Triple-A Iowa. Ihrig will wear No. 2, and is tonight's starting pitcher against the Nashville Sounds at Principal Park.

Ihrig, 23, was selected by Chicago in the 23rd round of the 2013 June draft out of the College of Marin in Kentfield, Calif. He joins Iowa today from Extended Spring Training.

The Monroe, Wash., native is 1-1 with a 2.16 ERA (4ER/16.2IP) and one save in six games for Single-A South Bend between April 17 and May 4 this season. He has struck out 12 and walked one.

Last season, Ihrig combined to go 7-3 with a 4.01 ERA (37ER/83.0IP) with 64 strikeouts and 14 walks in 16 games, including 13 starts, between Short-A Boise, Single-A Kane County and Advanced-A Daytona. He registered one save as well.

With this move, Iowa's active roster is now full at 25 players plus two major-league rehab assignments and one player on the disabled list.

More interested in Ihrig than Wada to be honest. Hitting AAA after his 1st full season. 2013 he put in 12 games in relief work after he was drafted. He could be interesting if he does well on Iowa.

Nothing on Wada at this point. His numbers really don't jump at me up to this point. Still he may kick it up a notch if he gets a game in. I can see them cutting ties with Coke.

Good grief, the MLB TV camera work is bad. Or the director, anyway.

Pick off throw to first, the camera swithces from batter to pitcher, and we're left to guess what's going on over at first.

Earlier, on a fly to CF, the camera was on Coghlan until the ball went into Fowler's glove. It was funny, because Costas actually said "And you see Fowler will catch that", as we couldn't see Fowler.

Verlander a good one.. hopefully he returns healthy

Wainwright certainly qualifies....ok, he's not pitching today, but
