Technically speaking he was waived/injured.

Which means he was cut, anyone could have signed him, and they did not and he reverts to IR. He has essentially been cut, he is not with the team anymore and his locker has been cleaned out according to Jeff Dickerson.

You will notice that Cutler was placed on IR and was not waived/injured.

LOL no it isnt the same thing. He wasnt cut

I don't know how many here have ever really looked at an Eastern Illinois football schedule. This was his senior year. You really have nothing to go by here.

San Diego State San Diego, Calif. W 40-18 Details
9/7/2013 Southern Illinois Carbondale, Ill. W 40-37 Details
9/14/2013 Illinois State Charleston, Ill. W 57-24 Details
9/21/2013 Northern Illinois DeKalb, Ill. L 39-43 Details
9/28/2013 Eastern Kentucky Charleston, Ill. W 42-7 Details
10/10/2013 Austin Peay Clarksville, Tenn. W 63-7 Details
10/19/2013 Southeast Missouri Charleston, Ill. W 55-33 Details
10/26/2013 Tennessee State Nashville, Tenn. W 34-16 Details
11/2/2013 Tennessee Tech Charleston, Ill. W 56-21 Details
11/9/2013 Murray State Murray, Ky. W 37-17 Details
11/16/2013 Jacksonville State Charleston, Ill. W 52-14 Details
11/23/2013 UT Martin Martin, Tenn. W 70-22 Details
12/7/2013 Tennessee State Charleston, Ill. W 51-10 Details
12/13/2013 Towson
You mean schools that have to tell you what section of the state or what city they are in may not be comparable competition? Hmmm.

Well NFL GM's passed on him until #62, so what has he done since then that would make them change their opinion so much so that a team like the Bears would give up #35( nearly a first round choice), another second, and a 4th as you suggested?

He may garner higher than #62, but your picks are equivalent to a top 15 pick. Do you actually believe he his 60 NFL passes has elevated him by a round and a half?

I think him falling to 62 was a mistake, as it was a mistake to take Carr at 36. Russell Wilson at 75 and Dak Prescott at 135.

In a draft that Bortles went 3 and Manziel went 20 there were a lot of mistakes made at the QB position.

Since he has been in the NFL we have seen that the jump in competition, that had people concerned is not that big a deal, and he has been developed by the best organization in football, which is not a bad thing despite what some may think.

I get where you are coming from. I wish we could have seen more from him, but we didn't get to.

Alright football guru. Please tell me your reason on why you are 100% sold on Jimmy?
Excellent football intellect, fast release, pinpoint accuracy, good mobility and pocket presence and excellent body language to boot.

It 100% is the same thing.

Ego will not be back with the Bears next season.

Are you really trying to argue that Ego Ferguson is a good player? Or that a 2nd round pick who only played 2 seasons for the Bears was not a bust?

No one is 100% sold on him, you really can't be on any QB that is available. There are like 10 QBs in the league I am sold on.

The Basics

1. Very accurate
2. Quick release and seems to be a very good decision maker
3. Great feet, can move and threaten with his legs
4. Good intangibles

Oh and in addition to having the skills to be an NFL QB he has now sat and learned from the best QB and coach in the NFL for 3 years.

And before you make you lame Matt Cassel reference, Matt Cassel had no physical skills what soever, it is why he was an UDFA and it is why he never started in college. They are nothing a like other than they played for NE.

dude he played at eastern Illinois lol. You get all of this out of 2 games? Didnt Matt Flynn only played one game with the packers but had better stats then Jimmy? More yards, touchdowns, passer rating. You going off of a very short sample size lol

Injured players with 4+ seasons of service time can be immediately placed on Injured Reserve (IR). 4. Up until the first cutdown date, injured players with less than four years of service cannot go onto IR until they pass through waivers. Those players are released with the “waived/injured” designation.

They are still on the team lol

The 2 2nd round picks and a 4th is a little more than the Chiefs traded for Alex Smith.

Generally speaking unproven QBs have been traded for 2nd round picks, but most of those guys were not 2nd round picks to start. Therefor I think it will take a little more to get Garapollo.
Alex Smith was the former 1st over all pick, and you are suggesting a guy with 60 NFL passes that was the #62 pick is worth more. WTF?

Matt Flynn was a 7th round pick.

Carson Wentz played at North Dakota ST.

But if you are worried about his level of competition I can conveniently show you some NFL tape of him playing as well the Bears practiced against him for a week.

does Jerry Hughes ring a bell? All im saying is that two say a person is a bust after two years is hard to do.

I am suggesting that at the point when Alex Smith was traded he was on a downward trajectory.

I think they are worth comparable amounts.

I agree you are paying for an unknown, but that is where the upside is. With Smith the upside had been exhausted and we was just a solid starter despite being the 1st pick.

Tom Brady was a 7th round pick....what is your point on where you draft someone at? Ryan Leaf was amazing..

It means that the NFL did not think Flynn and Cassel were very talented. They went through the draft process and were determined to be fringe players and they turned out to meet that designation.

Brady was the greatest draft miss ever.
