Yeah, well, I'm not talking about getting AHL quality defensemen here.... which is what Cullimore and Boynton were... The idea is not dressing guys that don't belong in the NHL.

Kaberle sucks. Like, really, really sucks. Who in the hell would pay him 5+ mil per season? Come on.

Brooks Laich got 4.5 mil per season. Told you. Overpayment too, IMO.

The more I look at the free agents, the more disappointed I am... Very, very, very few options.

I never disagreed about Laich, I thought he would get between $4M and $5M, which he did.

I don't really see any physical defenseman that fit in with our puck moving style other than Wisniewski. The are either physical and suck, or can move the puck but aren't really a physical force, like Kaberle. If we couldn't land Wiz, I wouldn't mind bringing in Kaberle if his contract was around $5M and he was only here for a year or 2. I don't want any of the other "physical" defenseman available. (I'd want Jonathan Ericsson but I believe he re-signed with the Wings, could be wrong though)

I don't think Kaberle helps this team at all. He is about ten times worse defensively than Campbell was, in his first season here. He's just garbage.

There's a lot of guys who I would love to have on the Hawks. 99% of those aren't happening. Be awesome to get a guy like Jordan Staal too. I'm just kind of disappointed that the Hawks missed the Mike Richards action....

Where did Richards go?

Is it official that he will be a Ranger?

Ohhh sorry..Mike Richards. **** me that would have been gold!! Can't even start thinking about who we would have lost in the deal. Guess the Kings didn't sell the farm to get him but did hand out a little bit of future (not that that hurt the Kings much).

Not Brad, Mike. You know, Philly's captain and former #1 center?

Agree on Kaberle. Not sure what the hell happened to him in Boston but even the strongest part of his game (PP QB) fell into the shitter.

Always thought he would be a great PP QB for us but yah his defensive game sucks and I am not sure if he is the puck moving blueliner that he once was anymore. Was really bizzar to watch him go to complete crap in Boston. Maybe it was the system? I don't know.

Looking closer at the blueline FA list....there isn't much there.

We need Wiz back here he is the only player on that list that satisfies the needs the Hawks have on the blueline now.

Seabs/Keith/Campoli (he will sign)/Hammer/Leddy/Wiz?

Jesus...that's a cup winning 6 man blueline if I ever saw one. And gives Q a lot of faces and pairings to work with. And remember Wiz can play PP point and did it fairly well with the Ducks on the second unit.

No, no, and no. What's the fit for Kaberle who plays the left point on the PP? Sharp and Keith seem to do a more than capable job in that department. Kaberle barely sees the ice on the PK and for good reason.

Wiz? A lot to like about him but too many times he's out of position or takes himself out of position. He certainly won't upgrade the PK.

Expect the Hawks to move Leddy into Campbell's spot with Hjarlm???son as his partner. That leaves a bottom pairing on the right side for Campoli. Good PK'er, not expensive, a little grit that can eat about 15 minutes.

Montador fits the bill.

Montador is a good fit. Must have brushed over him on the FA list.

Only thing that has ever bothered me about him is that he has changed teams faster than D Sedin changes H Sedins diaper. 5 teams in 9 years always seems to bring up question marks with me. But guess that's the culture of the NHL now a days when you aren't a core player.

He is also not a puck moving blueliner which I think we do need even on the bottom pairing (it never hurts). But his other contributions should trump that. Campoli however has that ability if it were a pairing...and it would be a nice one.

Other than that Montador does fit the bill indeed. Would be happy if the Hawks made him an offer.

Wasn't that the post concussion season when he struggled? Seems to have kicked that monkey as best as one could.

Cole would be a great fit here..replaces Brouwers physicality instantly and adds even better hands.

Much better option than Brunette. I don't buy into the cliche that this team needs a "vet leader" on it. We have an experienced core already wiser beyond their ages.

Nothing against Brunette though..never had anything against him. Just think the Hawks can do better than that.

Off-topic on Brunette (fires agent over Sean Avery/*** marriage contoversy).

Any news on Jordan Hendry? Is he done as a Hawk? Could he be our 7th D-man this year?

I wouldn't mind Montador and I believe the Hawks actually had interest in him at the deadline.

Tim Connolly and Cody McCormick are in a select club. Of the Buffalo Sabres' eight unrestricted free agents, it appears those are the only two the team could try to keep this week.

The free agent market opens at noon Friday, and Sabres General Manager Darcy Regier said he plans to talk to the agents for both forwards.

"We'll continue talking," Regier said Monday. "I'll have a conversation with Cody McCormick's agent, with Tim Connolly's agent, and we'll see where it goes from there."

The Sabres' unrestricted list also includes forwards Mike Grier, Rob Niedermayer, Mark Mancari and Matt Ellis, defenseman Steve Montador and goaltender Patrick Lalime. Regier said he's talked with Montador's agent only in passing. Grier will be re-examined after the first wave of signings.

Wouldn't mind picking up Lalime as a backup if Salak aint ready.

First thing I want to add is this talk of Hossa for Buff or Hossa for Ladd. Sometimes I wonder if many of you are bipolar. I like Buff but jesus, the guy only shows up come playoffs, I will not take chances on players like that. Ladd is good but no Hossa he is. Seems like you all forget how much hard work Hossa seems to put on the ice, gets double teamed, has amazing arm strenght going around corners, and the ability to take over a game in a matter of a switch. Don't forget how he was starting of the season last year prior to getting hurt. There are others I would trade before Hossa, 1 being Kane, I love the guy but I don't see him around much longer then this year or next. I still think he will be traded in some point in time while he still has value.

This Trade deadline seems to be taking forever. All the good ones are signing up, wonder what will be left. Stan better have a plane or come July first or he will have a thumb up his ass with AHL talent left.

The free agent class sucks this year... I honestly think that the major fireworks have happened already and expect a relatively quiet july 1st

Would I take them both back, sure, but not for what Buff is about to make, and Ladd is about to sign a new deal as a captain of another team,so let's just stop discussing it there.

Not saying that won't happen or anything, but why do you believe this?

I still wouldn't mind bringing back Sopel. The Hawks could sign him for not much at all. He loves Chicago he sign a cheap deal. He would be a solid pk'er and a good stay at home d to fit with Campoli. I would rather do that then massively overpay Wiz.
