I only see Kane leaving his last couple years to play for the sabres and it wouldn't shock me if that never happened. I see him in a hawks sweater for a long time.

I would trade Hossa ten times before I traded Kane. If someone offered me a Hossa for Havlat trade I would do it in a heartbeat. Marty had great chemistry with Bolland and Sharp.

Do not want. If they are hellbent on a UFA LW then I vote for Tomas Felsichmann at 27 yrs. old. If they want a LW with even more vet experience then I vote Erik Cole---I will take his 32 over Brunette's 37 please.

I'll take an even younger LW with some decent playoff experience? ... How about Sean Bergenheim of Tampa Bay? Apparently he's a UFA and likely won't get more than $2M... He made $700K this past year.

Nice big physical winger, who showed a nice scoring touch in the playoffs, would be good for us after Brouwer & Kopecky leaving.

UM YES PLEASE, how did they not sign him is beyond me, he'd be perfect on our 3rd line. Watch the guy play in person, Laddish type player, not a big scorer but pretty smart.

Word is Hawks are interested in Jan Hejda, Mike Rupp, and Matt Bradley (Hejda according to CBJ writer, and the other two via Tim Sassone)

Thoughts?

Would LOVE Mike Rupp, in fact I mentioned him earlier in the Off-season thread, and possibly this one as well.

Brad's is a feisty, solid 4th line winger. Not afraid to drop the gloves, bit of a bleeder, but definetly holds his own. Not a heavy score threat (think he has a 25pt career high season wise), but damn he can give top lines fits.

i did not relaize he was a UFA.....not sure I would really give up anything in a trade though for him...like him, but he isnt that key to give alot away for.

Screw Mike RUpp...just cuz Ton likes him...

I have a distaste for Rupp probably stemming from his time with the Pens and therefore would personally not want him.

I would be very excited if Bradley were to wear the Indian Head.

Best part of that, he was clutch in the playoffs. Those are the players I go after.

And, like Fleischmann, he's only 27.

Plus, if he isn't projected to earn more than $2M, I don't see how you not get a guy like him, especially for a roster spot. Whoever gets him will definitely be happy.

A big part of me thinks that the Hawks will make smaller/depth moves - alot of the guys mentioned here...go with Kruger (Industrial Smoothing)at center...sign Sopel, Rupp to fill out some of the gaps.

But then...for McD to have 14mil to spend....I still get ths feeling that the Richards tires will be kicked and tried to convince him to come here. I just can't see him wanting TOR or even the NYR for that matter. He's made pretty good money over the last 7yrs (47mil)...and contrary to the idea he's won a cup so he just want money..he doesn't care about that. Yeah, he'll want money, but also want to win and stability in a team - after TB and DAL ownership issues.

The reason he went/agreed to DAL was at the time, he felt they were closer. No team has a better young core than CHI, and the idea to play with Hossa and behind Toews - not many teams can offer that.

TOR? Play with Kessel? NYR? Play 50gms with Gaborik..before he's hurt. Then...he's screwed?

I think CHI (McD more importantly) is going to try pretty hard to get him and Scooter at a good cap hit. 7yrs - 40.6mil (5.8mil per cap hit...break it down as 8-8-7-7-5-3-2.6) will take him to 38yrs old. Give him a limited/NTC.

Hawks could still go get Sopel (850K)...a guy like Rupp (1mil)...resign the RFA's - Campoli (2mil), Frolik (1.5mil) and Stalberg (900K)...and then still have about 2mil left under the cap.

McD comes in and they get Campbell, Huet...then theres Hossa..Kopecky..Madden. They love the red carpet splashes. I just have some sort of hunch, after the 14mil "free up", losing alot of faces...they'll pull some sort of full court press on Richards. And being the "salesman" he is...who knows. Just a weird feeling Richards is going to come to CHI.

Patrick Sharp ($3.900m) / Jonathan Toews ($6.300m) / Patrick Kane ($6.300m)

Rostislav Olesz ($3.125m) / Brad Richards ($5.800m) / Marian Hossa ($5.275m)

Bryan Bickell ($0.541m) / Dave Bolland ($3.375m) / Michael Frolik ($1.500m)

Michael Rupp ($1.000m) / Marcus Kruger ($0.900m) / Ben Smith ($0.812m)

/ Viktor Stalberg ($0.900m)

DEFENSEMEN

Nick Leddy ($1.116m) / Duncan Keith ($5.538m)

Niklas Hjalmarsson ($3.500m) / Brent Seabrook ($5.800m)

Chris Campoli ($2.000m) / Brent Sopel ($0.850m)

John Scott ($0.512m)

GOALTENDERS

Corey Crawford ($2.666m) / Alexander Salak ($0.612m)

I like hoss but I would ship him out for the right deal, mainly him for buff.

I would love Buff back. Was sick (though I understood) when we had to part ways.

However, I am curious to see what Hossa does this year. You know the cup hangover our guys suffered with last year from the short off season? Remember Hossa had that 3 straight years!

Hjeda isn't a horrible idea to fill the defense roster. There are worse options out there for sure.

Rupp is a big nasty boy for the 4th liner who can play C/LW. Not my first choice but in my mind is a slight upgrade over Dowell.

Bradley is pretty much the mirror image of Rupp but on the RW side and little less hands (not that either have great ones to begin with).

To be honest if you can grab both Rupp and Bradley you have a pretty hard hitting 4th line. But don't need both of them.

As for PMX? He crunches numbers like he crunches the bung. THE BUNG!!!

Agreed. I believe the Hawks have had every intention to kick the tires on Richards AND Stamkos.

McD loves splashes.

Stamkos is going to get 9 mill a year. Market price..he is now up there with the Crosbys and the Ovechkins of the hockey world.

Hawks can't go after him no matter how big of a splash McD loves. That's a belly flop which will leave the Hawks intestines bleeding.

Would have to wave goodbye to Keith or Kaner for that to happen. Or lose that Hossa contract which is now the worst contract on the club.

I have zero belief that the Hawks have any chance at Stamkos.

As for Richards? Well he is lucky to be the only real high end UFA this year and to be the only real center at that (which is a rare commodity to begin with). Just means he and his agent hold all the power. Guy's going to get 8 mill a year..why? Because he can...someone will pay it. Won't and shouldn't be us unless McD is really that moronic...oh oh

I read somewhere they are going to make an offer to Maxim Talbot.

And Hossa's contract is still good. 5.2 mil Cap hit. I'll remind you Kopecky just got THREE!

Hossa was just on fire last year before the injury. It would be nice to see him stay healthy. He does that I wouldn't trade him for Buff, I show up when I chose, any day.
