Keto and Intermittent Fasting

The I doesn't stand for "Intentional".

Yeah, I know that. But IF is intentionally restricting your intake during certain parts of the day.

I work nights so I usually get up and don't eat for a few hours because I'm just not hungry or because I ate before bed.

I'm not going to argue semantics with you. If you fast intermittently, it doesn't matter whether you planned it well in advance.

I'm just literally not hungry in the morning. I don't intentionally not eat for a period of time. Sometimes I'll have breakfast but it's rare.

Nobody's knocking it, it's the way your body was designed to work. If it just came naturally, it still helped. As I recall though you weren't talking about building your body on carbs. You specifically said you eat a lot of healthy fats and protein.

Now in this thread, you act like Mr. Eat Whatever Whenever. Can we have some transparency, Mitch? Back then you were doing IF (albeit somewhat unwittingly and through your whole life) and preaching healthy fats and proteins while making no mention of all those carbs. Believe you said you wouldn't eat til 2PM or later. That's powerful IF, brotha. I applaud ya, but let the peeps here know how it truly is. IIRC, you were at 175 and eating ~ 2000 calories a day. Ya know what Mitch? None of this sounds like somebody who eats whatever whenever.

Like I said earlier, I literally might be doing IF sometimes by accident. I never denied that. I'm just not intentionally like, "okay I can't eat from this time to that time." I just eat when I'm hungry and that's it.

I don't have a problem with IF. Idk why you came at me like I was saying it doesn't work or something. I was just arguing with Spartan because he called me a fraud for just eating whenever the hell I wanted when that's worked completely fine for me.

I'm with that. It has come naturally to me since I was in my 20s. I eat between noon and 8 unless morning gym then its sardines and chocolate milk 20 minutes later and then lunch sometime after noon.

I said I eat WHENever, not WHATever. I've always eaten a lot of carbs, I just made an effort to eat more protein and healthy fats to build muscle and lose fat. Back when I was cutting I was eating 2,246 calories a day. I had it on a calorie counter. I never counted macros, but I did my best to eat the most protein and fats that I could. Just mental noted it, never wrote it down.

Now I don't count calories anymore cause I'm in the process of trying to gain ~10 lbs of muscle. But I still eat whenever I want.

edit: I just hate how keto makes people think carbs are bad for you when they're not bad for you at all.

I'm not trying to come off like that, brother. But when speaking keto and/or IF, I am an expert cause I've searched out all the studies regarding both and got a lot of info over the past 10 months since I started it. I know a lot more about it all now than I did when I started. Just kind of dove right in when I heard claims of it curing Crohn's.

Cool then. I'm with u, it does cure. Bloodwork shows. But it's a commitment and for a lot of ppl a panacea obsession but has downsides too.

You don't have to hate keto people for that. They don't think carbs are bad for you. They and everybody do know sugar is bad for you and all carbs are treated like sugar.

But, really, nobody ever sat down 100 years ago and said let's make a diet that restricts carbs greatly cause carbs are of the devil. The way keto came about was when doctors were trying to create a diet that mimicked fasting. Fasting has been used throughout all of man's existence to heal. They were thus trying to create a diet so people could still eat but experience the benefits of fasting too. That's what keto is really about. Just so happens it's quick to normalize your body weight too but still, it didn't start off as a diet for weight loss meant to demonize carbs.

Sugar is poison.

I never said it would heal anything either. Said I found out it could heal what I specifically needed healing with. It also normalized my body weight which I think, in itself, is a positive that tends to lead to more overall wellness. I've also read it can heal other things but I can only speak of my own experience with any kind of real certainty.

There was a movie about a little boy being healed in the 90's with keto which seemed to spark the interest for the Keto movement. Don't know how exact the facts of the movie were but it was a case that got a lot of media attention for Keto and that led to the movie. It was called First Do No Harm. Watched it myself a few months ago on youtube.

A can has like 5 or 6 sardines. You gotta eat the whole can boyo. :bearbang:
Seen Keto peeps hype Sardines. Something you can have on the go and shit. I've never tried one in my life. The extent of my seafood intake has been salmon, tuna fish, and sushi. I have to try sardines before I die. What brand do you recommend? I've seen Wild Planet hyped a lot. Do you prefer it with water or olive oil or something else?

Damn...you must really like them. I have to get some and try this. I could use more seafood and don't they say it's best to eat those that are lowest on the food chain? I think they do. Would make sense anyway. Think I'll give one to my youngest son first so he can tell me what it tastes like. He'll eat anything and usually like it.
