lol, watched 3 episodes of shield just to shut desbro the **** up and....

Its very meh.

Acting ranges from ok to very bad. The black chick is good. Bald dude and the dude from justified (walton goggins) are just ok. The white guy that always wears suits has an interesting character but he is a bad actor. And the police chief is just fucking terrible.

I know that bald dude can act well and I know Goggins can act his ass off, so seems like probably a crappy director.

Plot is decent with a lot of room to get way better.

Yes, only 3 episodes in but damn, some of the crappy acting had me laughing out loud.

The Americans turned me off. I really like spy stories. Have a giant collection of cold war era spy novels.

Something about this show just wasn't right to me. Maybe it was how emotionally dramatic it was. Also seemed like the spycraft was fuckin sloppy with lots of holes.

Also didn't like how the whole thing begins with the main characters bitching out of their mission. I am more interested in the spy story and less interested in the rah rah america will convert anyone cause our amazing culture shit.

But ima give it another try cause your recommendation.

too many damn cop shows. Guess they are easy to write.

You just have to think of one small twist to make your show "different" and think of crimes to solve. I do get sucked in to some though. Like Monk when it started if you couldn't tell.

Some of my favorite shows the past few years that I don't think have been mentioned yet.

1. Continuum - In the future, the government is controlled by corporations and a terrorist group called Liberate is at war with the government. They go back in time 70 years to try and prevent their future from happening and are followed by a government protector. It's a Canadian show and the premise and execution is pretty good.

2. Person of Interest - This is on CBS so I assume you have watched it but if not it's a pretty good show. The premise is a machine provides the social security number for a person that can either be a victim or perpetrator of a violent crime and the protagonists of the show try and figure out which they are and to prevent the violent crime. Seems like a basic enough premise but the show is a great blend of cop procedural, sci-fi, and spy show all in one.

3. The Blacklist - Another show on mainstream TV (NBC) about a former CIA agent turned traitor who is one of the FBI's most wanted suddenly turning himself in to the Feds. In exchange for not being sent to jail, he offers up details on criminals that are so shady and shadowy that the FBI doesn't know they exist hence the title Blacklist.

4. Almost Human - You want the British version and not the American version (although that one is decent). The premise is a vampire, werewolf, and ghost end up living in a flat together. It sounds stupid but the drama that unfolds is funny, dark, and tragic all at the same time.

5. Misfits - Another British show about a group of British delinquents forced to do community service at a local rec center who gain super powers after a freak storm. Like Almost Human, it's funny, dark, and tragic all at the same time.

6. Perception - A TNT show about a paranoid schizophrenic who is a professor and one of the foremost authorities on the human mind who consults for one of his former students who is an FBI agent. In the course of assisting them he ends up conversing with his other personalities in order to help solve cases and is never quite sure what is real and what isn't.

7. Elementary - Sherlock Holmes living in modern day New York. Johny Lee Miller's Sherlock is a lot more rugged than the British Show's version but this take on Holmes is still pretty interesting especially with Lucy Liu playing Watson. Overall I like the British one better but the benefit of this version is you get 23 episodes a season and while the British show is more faithful to the books, this version takes some liberties with the source material that when it works, it works really well.

8. Fall Skies - Not for everyone but a TNT show about the aftermath of an Alien Invasion. Probably one of the more mature and well executed versions of this kind of story I have seen in the past decade or so.

9. Copper - A BBC America show about a NY Copper in the 1860s right around the time of the Civil War. It's a pretty good period drama with aspects of a cop procedural.

10. Torchwood - You mentioned watching Dr. Who and this was the spin-off from that show that follows the exploits of Captain Jack Harkness. It's a bit more mature and darker than Dr. Who and some of the later seasons are a miss but the first season or two was pretty good.

I started Haven last night on Netflix. We'll see about it.

I have watched all of Haven.... new season coming soon and they renewed it for 2 or 3 more seasons on this past renewal.... TBH I was kinda surprised.... Haven is an interesting show and I always thought the lead chick was kinda hot but it has stuck around while stuff like Alphas got cancelled.

Monk tell me if you find this true..... the lead actress that plays Audrey.... her voice.... sounds.... boring.... idk how to describe it but sometimes when she talks in the show she is almost this monotone and I start wondering if she is playing a robot?

I gave Torchwood a shot when I was in college.... and in an episode in season 1 there was dude on dude makeout action with a show character (not naming due to spoilin) and another dude.... All in all the show just wasn't that great IMO but that episode caught me off guard. So just a forewarning if anyone checks out Torchwood you will see some dude on dude action.... that shit caught me off guard in Halt and Catch Fire as well.... It feels like they have to ambush you with the dude on dude stuff lol

I like The Americans.... not sure if the holes in the spycraft to you are when they are spending every night out on secret missions and somehow managing to continue to lead a normal life and go to work. I feel like they sometimes recognize the issues with this like their daughter getting suspicious and then other times they will gloss over it for long periods of time.

I find the whole notion of the mission and the way they are embedded kinda cool.... I mean I don't get the rah rah vibe you seem to get, but I get the internal war that they have to wage.... they have kids they love and they are forced to be a part of the American culture yet they must secretly reject it inside somehow. Also, their kids are Americans through and through so by the very nature of their mission they are converting themselves little by little.... if it comes down to their kids or Mother Russia who do they pick? I am guessing they pick their kids... their American kids.... which they had to have in order to carry out their mission for Mother Russia.

Idk I find it fascinating though I do agree some of their home life drama is a bit annoying.

The British Almost Human is great. I watched some of the American and it was ok. It's probably just because I like British accents. Elementary is great too. I like Johnny Lee Miller as an actor in general. Hackers was a good movie.

Truth. I actually started the show when it first aired and would fall asleep (I've fallen asleep in many great shows too so that doesn't mean anything, I'm just lazy.) so I missed an ton of the first few episodes and stopped recording. I figured it would get cancelled soon any way. When I saw there were four seasons I figured I'd try it out again. Lead actress is not great in my opinion.

There is something about the connection between Brody and Carrie thats enticing though. And Sol steals the show IMO

I'm tired of her character.

Well, there you go. Why in the **** do they have kids at all? Don't think their cover would require them to have kids and its an insane conflict of interest to take on.

My favorite teams
  1. Chicago Bears
Homeland is pissing me off with simple stuff. No cell phone would ever be allowed in a secure room. Skype would never ever ever be used for communication. Stuff like that bugs me.

Good series but little stuff like that should not happen.

sent from my Verizon Galaxy S3 on PPC.

I'm glad we don't have to deal with Brody's daughter anymore. I was at the end of my rope.

The Americans is a great show, and they address the spies having kids in a very heavy way. I just deleted a sentence due to spoilers, this should be less spoilery. The end of the last season shows some very unexpected motives and consequences of having kids in that business. I'm not easily or often surprised by TV shows, this one got me good.

Ray Donovan is the best show with new episodes coming out right now. Season one was great, watch it.

Disappointed in The Strain and Tyrant.

Looking forward to the return of:
The Black List
Hannibal
And of course, GOT and The Walking Dead.

Yes, only 3 episodes in but damn, some of the crappy acting had me laughing out loud.
bahahaha I stopped watching the shield like twice because I felt da same.

but when shit got real.. And the episodes got legit intense. I didn't stop watching it. reason why it's an 8.8 on imdb bro, it's friggin insane. Yes, first few episodes are meh. But it's earlyv'00s and just geting rolling.Just stick with it; it's a real fun ride

In other news.. I just fucking ruined Boardwalk Empires big huge MOMENT for season 4 by reading something online about the beer wars and Atlantic City(Been in a big reading kick lately over that stuff); My dumbass starts reading and jsut read a huge fucking spoiler by total lack of judgement.

So pissed at myself.

Yeah it's actually Being Human not Almost Human as I was mixing it up with the Fox show about an AI Cop. But the British Being Human was definitely better executed as I think they balanced the humor and darkness well while the American show was skewed too much to the latter.

And yeah I like Lee Miller as well. Plays a great Sherlock.
