I thought it was well known that Rose doesn't handle pain well

Anybody see Calipari say Rose doesn't have a high pain threshold. I think he meant his game is sensitive to injury and he has to be right, but I thought it was a wow since that is his father figure. I can only imagine Cal was doing parcels and saying what needed to be said to motivate him.

I would hope he doesn't need any extra motivation. He hasn't been a relevant basketball player in over 4 years, yet alone an elite one. He's been collecting (stealing) over 18 mil a season and hasn't helped this team win shit. I'd say about 90% of the fan base is waiting for his contract to expire so he can play someplace else. I don't see how making a comment about his pain tolerance would be any extra motivation. The guy simply lost his passion for the game and is just going through the motions. The only thing I could think of, that would MAYBE (but doubtfully) motivate him would be someone calling him out on his bullshit. Anytime he makes a dumbass comment like "I know I'm great" or "I'm going to be MVP again" someone should remind him of his stats and production and tell him there's a word for your thinking...it's called delusional. I doubt even that would get him going though. In his mind, he's superman. He could go scoreless for the rest of the year and he'd still be going on about how he knows that he's great and everybody else is stupid.

I wish he could go through the motions but take a few smart shots, while running the offense and playing like anything resembling a point guard. He doesn't have to be the fastest most explosive superman to be point, he has to play somewhat smart and we so little of that. He either hogs the play or sits out of it and shuffled around jogging.

I'm pissed.

The thing is, his shot selection is pretty good this season. I'd argue that it's the best it's been in years. He just can't finish anymore. And while he's passing it a bit more, he was never a great facilitator. That's not his game. His IQ isn't good enough to impact the game if he's not scoring a lot of points. He doesn't make guys around him better, which is fine if he could score but he's been abysmal this year. I can't even put into words how bad he is. Once his athleticism disappeared, his whole game went with it. The hope some people had was that he could learn to be crafty and really learn the nuances of the game and learn to play like a Sam Cassell, Chauncey Billups type game. That's just not him though and honesty, I think the biggest problem is he doesn't have the same passion for the game anymore. After years of rehabbing, a son, and over 100 mil in the bank, he just isn't "all in" anymore.

Look, this Rose is shit and stupid and don't resign him if he can't bother to learn point guard from hinrich and hoiberg. But we can't trade him, and so he is our only hope. If Gasol sees the writing then this year is our only chance. He needs to fix his vision, get in explosive shape, start finishing, and stop shooting when he has a floor of pure shooters around him.

It isn't hopeless, and Rose is our only shot, even though right now the best basketball we have played was when he was out. We won't win without something resembling old Rose and so all out positive focus should be on getting through to him how bad he sucks and why he needs to change his game. Just maybe he can turn the switch in playoffs and win our hearts again with a passionate playoff run. It's with him or nothing and when gone we will have ALOT of cap and some pieces to build around.

It's hopeless dude. This team has been around for a long time now and couldn't get it done. Rose is the worst he's ever been in his entire career. Could we get past Cleveland? Slim chance but it's possible. GS though? Other teams out West? No way. What team wins a title without a top 10 player in the game? It just doesn't happen unless you look back to the Pistons of the early 2000s.

Kind of sad how that one fateful day in April 2012 just ruined everything for perhaps the following decade in terms of title hopes.

Jimmy might be tenth right now. I think he will look competitive with the best in the all star game. He is a two way player surpassed possibly only by Leonard in that regard if we leave bigs out of it, and Lebron. Look, if Lebron blew his back out and Curry blew a high ankle sprain would you say the title was wide open?

I'd say the Spurs run away with it then

Sure. If you're depending on other contenders top players to go down with injury, anything is possible. Not a great strategy but possible.

I kind of have the feeling that it´s all mental with Rose.

You can´t tell me he´s not able to blow by half of the league. Which PG is a known lockdown defender and fast and big and strong enough to stay in front of Rose just by looking at their bodies?

When he´s on the court he looks super passive and patient. Look at Westbrook and PG13 and how they´re playing after their injuries.

There's some truth to this. In the back of his mind, Rose probably still fears getting injured again. He doesn't go all out anymore. I think part of it is fear of re-injury, and part of it is a lack of passion for the game and a lack of passion to be the greatest like he once had. He just doesn't have it anymore and people holding out hope that a switch is going to be flipped, well, they're just positioning themselves to be let down.

He might have a slightly above average first step these days, but once he does get by the defender, he can't finish. Even his floater isn't getting enough arch on it. It's actually pretty difficult to not have enough arch on a damn floater. It's either barely getting above the rim, or not getting high enough on the backboard.

Rose could finish at the rim at the end of last year...seems weird that he lost all of that ability in one offseason. Perhaps he is seeing 4 rims and keeps shooting at the wrong one, who the heck knows?

That's the hope but it wouldn't explain why he can still make a mid-range shot yet struggles at the rim. Or why he's actually getting progressively worse throughout the season. If it was a vision issue, you would think there would be some gradual improvement. Unless his vision actually gets worse the more time passes from the surgery, which seems like the opposite of what should happen. In fact, the first pre-season game he played weeks after the surgery, he was damn near perfect from the field. The vision thing to me, just doesn't jive to why he's playing unfathomably bad.

I genuinely have no idea.
