You know what maybe these moves are to extend a few players and not necessarily a play for bell

Why make that move now if it is to extend current players? The idea is ok, but the timing makes no sense.

I thought Bell was fat now after sitting out so long.

Justin Houston ?

Given his injury history and his last double digits sacks season was2014, I don't think Houston is as expensive as people think he'll be

You have no leverage Rory.

The best part of the thread, aside from the perfunctory Mike Davis scouting reports ("Better hands than Howard! Better burst than Howard! Better lateral movement than Howard!"), was someone mentioning that Mike Davis was good because even though he only had 26 yards against the Packers, he got a couple 1st downs at the end of the game to help run out the clock for a Seahawks win. Yeah, Jordan Howard never would have done that.

Why waste a draft pick on a rb? I watched Davis in Seattle, he's more than capable of being a good rb in this offense. He runs hard and can run well out of shotgun. I have no issues with the deal Davis received. I'd rather use the draft picks to sure up the OL and safety positions.

I can see Mack restructuring to keep his guys here as well. Amos is big to him probably, and maybe the Bears said they must keep him around. I doubt this is the case, but I can see a scenario like this play out. I'd rather spend a few extra million for Earl Thomas who is a game and strategy changer, but we shall see.

Even if Hunt is suspended 8 games, as long as he's healthy for the postseason run/postseason itself, then the move pays off. I think Hunt is more of a "sure investment" than Leveon Bell at this point.

Rory I read an article the other day that said he might get 12 games. I think that’s ludicrous but it would be tough pill to swallow if you’re counting on him.

Ton of people asking about Le'Veon Bell to the #Bears. Is it possible they have cleared cap space to invest in a wide receiver?

I’m no cap expert but I believe it something like a 5 year cycle. Might be 3 years but it definitely has an expiration date.
So if a team carries over $10M from the previous yr and with has an additional $20M from expiring contracts, if they would spend $10M in FA that $20M could be carried over as completely fresh cap space. If that is the case, it seems it would be very easy to not have cap space expire.

Amos is already gone. Packers.

Draft picks are cheap and you have their rights for 4 years. You also get to mold the player to fit your ideologies. Mile Davis isn't a bad player, but guys like him are easily available in the 5th round of the draft. Most of the RBs in the league can have a great game or 2 per year. Most can even have a few great runs per game if given the playing time. Take Brock Forsey for example.

No. I've been assured that Allen Robinson didn't under perform this year and that his ACL injury didn't affect his ability to get separation.

12 games would be bad, but if you still have Cohen and Howard, how much are you really counting on Hunt?

John Brown would fit in this offense well.

There was the talk yesterday of the Bears being interested in Patterson. Not exactly someone you'd clear cap space for though. :dunno:

Pace is due for his annual bad signing. Glennon, Sims, Patterson...I could see it.
