In my own opinion, Silva will be release. Also, Cash will be in the rotation as the 4th SP (my opinion).

Thats a lot of money to eat.

Silva will be moved I think similarly to what we did with Marquis.

Have to give up something to get something. Garza still young. Were not taking in 30 y/o SP here.

True, but Garza doesn't make us that much better. I would much rather have given up a similar deal for someone like Uggla or a 1B. Going after a position of weakness not strength.

@Buster_ESPN: general perception of proposed Cubs-Garza deal from rival evaluators: Cubs give up lot of volume, but no can't-miss star.

That would be a pretty steep price for Uggla.. but in the general sense of what you are saying..

Agreed.

Which is a lot for a team as cash strapped as we are.

The Cubs are still going to pay him either way and why have a pitcher who sucks play rather than the younger kids play.

Yeah I wouldnt have done the deal we gave up for Garza, but yeah at least you understand what I am saying.

We upgraded a strength fairly minimally, but still have a glaring weakness at 2B, and at 1B in 2012.

Lets get through this season then see what the FA crop looks like..

I never said I wanted Silva to start over Cashner.

I just don't want to straight up release Silva either. He had too good of a year to just release him and eat 5.5 million.

Also looking at his contract we would actually be eating 8 million,

11.5 salary 2 million dollar buyout of 2012 contract. Minus the 5.5 owed to us by Seattle.

If Silva has a poor ST or is injured again, then he should be release.

SP wins....cubs can find offense. ASK SFG about that
