2 things. Getting 27 y/o SP to help now and future is not a loss....We wont really know how deal turns out for 2-5 years. Cubs gave up PROSPECTS. If all 4 of them dont turn out we got a steal. If all 4 turn out then we lose. Prospects are called prospects for reason. Prospects = HAVENT DONE SHIT!

Wasn't it 5? Archer, Guyer, Chorinos, Fuld, Lee?

Not saying prospects not usefull. They were very usefull today. Got us a SP that has been PROVEN in ALE. Thats the idea. Bring up the guys you think can help: Castro,Colvin,Cashner,Soto,Marmol,Marshall,Wells. Trade other specs to get PROVEN MLB guys.

You just contradicted yourself in a massive way..

You saying Prospects havent done shit

means

prospects aren't worth shit.

----

Im gonna leave it alone after this.. but please be more clear with your thoughts in the future.

We gave up shit guys for a better pitcher in Peavy.

You gave up some high end prospects for a guy who really isn't that good.

Unconfirmed rumor: The pitcher the Cubs could recieve is either Matt Moore, Alex Torres, or Braulio Lara. They are all in the Rays top spects for '11 according to BA. Their stats in the minors are good and all of them could be better than Archer. But not as close to the majors as Archer.

LMAO..the SP that SDP had really nice year last year while Peavy hasnt done shit.

(Clayton Richards 14-9 3.75 ERA in 33 starts 1 CG...Peavy 7-6 4.63 ERA 17 starts)

Well this isn't 100% true.

You did give up your 2nd and 3rd best prospects for Peavy, and Garza is still good.

Not only that but you had to take on that ridiculous contract of Peavy's.

To be fair all things considered those ERA's are pretty similar.

Richard's ERA isn't all that great for pitching in Petco.

I am sure though you will disregard since he won 14 games.

ERA similar? Are you smoking something? I would take a guy under 4 all day over a guy over 4.5. Yes Petco is easier to pitch no question about that but to say that CHW gave up shitty guys for Peavy is :turrible:....Yes i do look at Wins more importanly then most of you. Teams are rated by wins so how do teams get those. By players earning wins.

Richards ERA+ was 98 Peavy's was 94. They are similar.

Ah yes by players earning wins. How exactly does a hitter earn a win then? So a team should be comprised solely of pitchers?

When a game starts, whats the first thing that every announcer says? For the team to have a chance to win today they need a good outing by the SP. Pitching wins more then offense does. There are days where hitting does wins games but 90% time Good Pitching defeats Good Hitting.

A pitcher has very little control over his W-L record, you realize that right?

Yes, and that's all he can do... pitch well. He can't control the amount of runs his team scores.

I like the trade for the Cubs. Chris Archer is a promising prospect but to get a guy like Matt Garza you had to over pay. Archer, probably won't be much of a starter in the majors because he has issues with endurance. Not saying he's a terrible guy, but seriously, if he's the make it or break it piece in a deal to bring in a Cy-young caliber type pitcher, you have to throw him in.

Lee seems like a very good player too, but, his bat is shady, but he has great speed and a great glove. But, so did Rey Ordonez. Some compare him to be a future All-star while others compare him to Ordonez. So who knows? Besides, theres no way he would jump over Castro on the Cubs depth chart. Adding him was a no brainer.

And Guyer just came out of nowhere last year. He was never highly ranked and had a big year. Is he the truth or just had a big season? Idk, but Tampa will find out.
