Think you just have a distorted view of what is average these days. Only 16 hitters last year hit over .300. 76 of 146 qualified hitters hit above .270 last season. As such, .270 is "above average."

I simply expect more than "above average" for Bryant.

Major league all starts struggle against Kershaw. Then they get a day f rest the nest time their team faces him. Are we seriously dissing Bryant for getting schooled by Kershaw when Bryant was a AA player?

I know right. One of the fucking dumbest things I've ever read on CCS.

No.

I'm saying lets slow down with the 'Kris Bryant should be better than Bryce Harper in his first year's statline alone' talk.

Let the kid play without the mammoth expectations and predictions. He hasn't gone against anything but minor league pitching.

ANd when he did face major league talent--he got schooled.

So let's cool it down with this is all I'm saying.......the kid, even if he is a stud; likely wont be the statistical monster people :fap: to be his rookie year.

Except I wouldn't.

I said, once again; if you knew how to read......

that If you were Washington, and the Cubs called inquiring about Harper, the first guy they'd ask for is Kris Bryant.

:enough:

The only one who doesn't know how to read is you my friend. Dews posted that "It would take more than Bryant to land Harper." And you replied, "Why can't I thank this more than once."

Could you be any more stupid?

:enough:

Oh I see.

Clearly, Bryce Harper is worth the shittiest of prospects and that's what Washington should ask for........instead of being realistic.

You're Special person. Good night, Skippy.

Why? Here's some scouting grades

MLB.com
Scouting grades: Hit: 55

Fangraphs
Hit: 50+

50 is Average. Most view him as an above average hitter. The reason he's such a highly touted prospect isn't his hit tool. It's because he has a decent hit tool with immense power.

Bryce Harper was worth a whopping 1.0 WAR last season

But that's none of my business. What exactly has Harper proven to be at the ML level?

You're just butthurt that the Cubs are going to own the Sox for the next decade. I guess that's why you're trolling the Cubs board?

I'm not gaga over Harper but this is cherry picking. The two years prior to this past season he was worth 4.4 fWAR and 3.8. Oh and he was also just 21. Compare his numbers to what Baez did.... just sayin'

When I read that someone is not prepared to give up Bryant (and more, as suggested) for Harper, I take it to mean they would prefer to see what Bryant can do, rather than assume he'll not ever be Harper. I didn't read anything that said Bryant's first year would be better than Harper has ever done. It was simply saying they didn't want to part with him at this point.

A guy on Fangraphs may project something, and may be high or low. Professional scouts have also thrown out "Perennial MVP candidate" and "45 HR power". We don't need to have the 1000th version of "Guys don't always hit their ceiling" lecture. We all know that.

Nobody says he's automatically going to be better than Harper - who was close to being sent back to the minors, BTW - they are simply saying we don't know for sure he won't be, and they don't want to trade him.

Add to all this that Harper seems to be a d-bag, and that factors in as well.

lol what?!?! he was hurt!

only 22 came in at 19. career .272 hitter with a .351 obp so far for his career with 55 home runs. WAR was a 5.1 at 19 and 3.1 in sophmore year. again he was hurt last year. first 2 years had 20 plus hrs. ops plus has also been good for all 3 years especially his 131ops+

you are being a comple homer.

You've got serious fucking comprehension problems, because you're always so damn set on arguing every fucking thing everyone says!

Try this: The point was that they are looking for a "clubhouse guy", meaning NOT a big star who would be expensive, but rather a guy whose impact would not be so great ON the field. An older, cheaper player, vs. Mike trout or Bryce Harper.

The point is NOT that Harper or Trout are BAD guys.

The point is that their targets are David Ross types, who won't get much $ and won't come in a trade for major assets.

They're not in the market for a young superstar gazillion dollar guy right now.
Good lord. I noticed when you were beaten on the Harper/Bryant argument on Twitter you brought it back here.

But he was a stud in the playoffs when it mattered most.

Harper is a great young player. I have never disputed that, nor have I said I would trade him for Bryant if I were Washington.

That isn't me.

I said that when Theo says he may make, as he put it, "a small move", to most of us, that means it isn't Bryce Harper!

Maddon's words were that they may look for "a clubhouse dude", referring to the same "small move". Again, I don't think anyone would call Harper a "small Move", so I was simply making the point that a move such as Harper was NOT what the Cub brass is hinting at.

YOU then decided this forum was nuts for thinking Harper was a bad clubhouse dude, because you completely misread the whole thing.
