I'm eventually going to have to work out what some of you guys mean when you use the term 'forechecking'.
I think you are probably talking about something other than that - but you know that is actually ok -but it is pretty damned confusing though -since it doesn't seem to match what I understand the term to be.
Generally teams go with one or two forecheckers most of the time unless having to make up a lot of goals in a given game -and then it is more like a desperation full court press thing.
One of those 2 is generally going to be the center.
Now what I have seen Kane do is hand up in the neutral zone and cherry pick when the Hawks are needing some Hail Mary type of offense.
Personally I don't see Kane putting up many more assists unless someone on the team develops into a full blown trigger guy (basically a sniper). 30 or so goals doesn't = a sniper- more like pushing 50 most season -so unless they got that sort of consistent type of guy putting the puck in the net -and on his line - you aren't probably going to see much more.
The guy does have the moves, that much is clear -but for my money, he has still mostly been a set up guy.
Personally I don't think that he's over-rated. He's probably rated about right.
But then again ... like I said before "over-rating" is actually about the person doing the rating - not the players.
