Shut the **** up.

:clap::clap::clap:

1. He's already accomlished more than most do in a career.

2. Most players don't hit their prime till their middle to late 20s.

3. He gets paid to score, not check.

4. He's still a baby by NHL standards.

5. Even with lots time to improve his game, I'll take him...right now

The guy performs consistently, and scores consistently at basically the same pace (or at least good enough for govt work close) over a span of 4 seasons. Over the course of the guy's career hasn't really scored more than a point per game but 3 or 4 times and suddenly, "people expect" what?

Good lord,, and some of these people that are expecting are some of the same folks that love to lob around stats yet can't actually compare them from one season to the next - yet still have some sort of "expectation"?!

What, exactly, is this "expectation" actually based upon???

It isn't trending stats, it isn't career stats? It must come from the gut or something.

QFT. And, congratulations...you're a "meatball."

I like the guy, because he is a Hawk, but I'm not going to over-inflate his value. I could name 5-7 players on the Hawks alone who are more important to their success then Kane. Compound that around the league and there are MANY more players who hold more value then Kane.

Well no shit there are quite a few other players who are more important to the Hawks's success...he plays a wing.

Re: "QFT" I wasn't actually planning on denying it.

Edited to add: -the above quote was about Hossa. (I did edit that in to the original post if it matters).

you of all people should know exactly what I am talking about, you hear it and see it everyday with fans in chicago. His post about all star games, using goals and assts ( but I cant do that ) and the game winning goal......is very meatballish. you cannot be negative with that kid about the hawks or he will have a fit.

Though I'm not sure if he's still rated highly after what happened... given, it was a small sample size...

 You referring to post 81? If so, then you know really I don't get what is going on.

Ok, look - I did think that the Hossa thing was complete bullshit, you may not like that Hossa really never was a 100 point per season guy, or even a point per game guy. Yes, in fact I did whip out the stupid calculator that comes with the OS and did some ratios.

I do agree that playing is not the same as actual stats, no problem there - however it confused the hell out of me as to what exactly some people were expecting considering even by their own standards, it didn't measure up to a point per game for quite awhile.

I stand by my definition of forechecking; could care less if someone were to disagree with it -however at the same time, please play on another line, as I don't have time to define the basic shit to some guys -although I suppose in the larger scheme of things it does help to actually be on the same damned page with the terminology.

______
..and then - roflmao at myself -you know I might want to read the entire thread for context next time. Damnit I am slow... :rolling:

I'm glad that you guys are willing to say that Kane isn't that great. He is a good offensive player, but he isn't better than Toews.

Hard to argue apples and oranges, although when the tough question is asked, I'd go with Toews every time.

You build a team around 19.
You compliment it with 88.

Ahh, I see what you're getting at...it has little to do with the argument at hand.

Carry on.

Is Hossa overpaid?
No.
Is he overrated? No.

When Ben Smith scored the winner in game 6, who kept the puck in the zone beautifully? Hossa went to 3 cup finals in a row. His body was done by year 3. He even said so at the convention.

Some argue that Hossa disappeared when he was with the Pens/Wings.

He took a bad major against Nashville, yet Kane scored the SH tying goal, with Hossa in perfect position for the game winner.
Hossa at his cap hit is a very nice fit.
You also cannot compare Kane with Toews. 2 totally different players, yet their worth is very important as a whole.

Sad to see "Hossa is overpaid" requiring a defense. :bizarro:

Yeah, clearly. Far be it from me to be in favor of a young, talented, and extremely successful hockey player. It's way cooler to shit on him so you don't look like too much of a fan. I get that.

But where did the meatball term come from? Meatballs are great.

Almost everything that Everyday I'm Byfuglien said about Kane is true for Toews, too.
The differences are that Toews has a gold medal and Conn Smythe. Kane won the Calder and the game winning goal. All I said was that Toews was better.

 yeah thats it, shit on him because you dont want to look like a fan.

you used allstar games played for one. All star game selections are meaningless.

you used points in your arguement, but when I use them in my arguements you disagree with using points. so hypocrit?

The biggest meatball comment is using the game winning goal as a back bone. scoring the game winning goal has zero to do with a players overall performance and whether he is overrrated or underrated.

Im curious, how many hawks games do you go to a year? you probably watch most on tv but will say you are a season ticket holder or you go to 30 plus games. go to a game and watch kane.
