The Sorcerer's Apprentice on Netflix this weekend.

Mildly entertaining. Wouldn't pay for the PPV/DVD rental though. Worth a watch on cable/netflix.

I too, watched this last weekend and do have to agree about either streaming or waiting for cable. I actually enjoyed it more than I thought I would.

Saw Thor, too... as a fan of the genre, I generally enjoyed it. My only real complaint was the lack of chemistry (at least to me) between Natalie Portman and Helmsworth. Thought the lead character did well and [SLIGHT SPOILER] I'll especially be looking forward to seeing Hawkeye showing up in the Avengers movie.

How genius is it of Netflix to make their customers feel like they aren't paying for movies?

I love it. It's not like you don't pay for cable.

Yeah premium channels are the same way. I just find myself saying, I wouldn't pay money for it on demand or in the theater or something, but I'd watch it on netflix. haha. I pay 19$ bucks a month for that shit. Bastards have brainwashed me. 11 years will do that I guess.

Watched Whip It last night and was pleasantly surprised. Ellen Page is rapidly becoming one of my favorite actresses. Worth a watch.

I enjoyed this one as well... if you have a group near you, the actual bouts are a lot of fun to catch and usually make for a somewhat cheap evening of entertainment.

I'm within driving distance of Austin, San Antonio, Houston so I might look into it. I remember watching on TV in the 70s as a kid.

Edit: The TXRD in Austin actually exists, with a team named the Holy Rollers. Might have to check it out now. My kids would probably love it after watching the movie with me.

Hardly. Hell, at a Windy City Roller's event you see far more college kids/hipsters than you do any "white trash" folks. It's definitely not the sport(?) it used to be.

I know a few women that do this, and I have respect for them.

Saying that it's a white trash sport is hardly an accurate portrayal of what I've seen/encountered.

Oh well. To each their own.

Blood into wine.

Entertaining if you're a fan of Maynard James Keenan or wine. If you're not a fan of either you might still like it. It's part documentary and part mockumentary about Maynard's passion of growing wine in northern Arizona. I enjoyed it. It's on Netflix streaming.

Interesting and might watch it tonight since we finally cracked open one of the first Merkin's produced....which was exquisite by the way.

So while on vacation for the past couple of weeks, the little lady and I caught a couple of flicks (guess which choice was mine and which were hers):

Lincoln Lawyer - An entertaining law flick that has a bit of a quandry for Matthew McConaughey's character with the case he is working. And yes Matthew McConaughey plays the same character he always plays, but at least it is entertaining. Overall a pretty entertaining flick, that will be on Netflix soon. I thought it was worth seeing.

Something Borrowed - Yea I am a sucker for these quasi-romantic comedy flicks. Enjoyable, but based on how the story unfolded, I would have written a different ending. Just to clean of a finish for the story and no real bridge to it. Perhaps the book was more complete. But worth an on cable view, and a snuggle with your partner...or Jako.

Bridesmaids - Not even the same type of movie as the hangover, so the comparisions can just stop. A funny flick that unfortunately gets too serious...but it is worth a watch for plenty of chuckles. The bridesmaids' picking out their dress style segment is just plain out great comedy.

Source Code - Stay away! Seriously, The Net was far more entertaining and just as ridiculous, and I needed to watch Strange Days 4 times with a Matrix thrown in for good measure to get over this flick. Well, that and Hard Boiled, Ran, A Thin Red Line, Cool Hand Luke, Inception, and Slap Shot....

just watched a movie call war torn on PTSD. Pretty fucked up shit. Should be required watching for the legion of arm chair generals who want to continue "defending freedom" abroad. Even the people that come back, this shit can ruin their quality of life for the rest of their days. the amount of suicides is ridiculous, when you survive a war and would rather kill yourself then go on living.

Makes you realize how empty a "thank you for your service" must be to these folks.
