Sure you can but why would you today?

People have their opinions about Ali. I personally liked him.
I met him in 1997 in South Bend, Indiana, while working on a signage gob at the local airport. He was passing through and took the time to stop and shake my hand. I got a couple of Islam pamphlets with his autograph on each which I still have to this day.
His actions divided a nation, and there will be various opinions of him.
He's a hero to me in many forms, but I'm not going to moderate opinions that are different than mine.

The posters on this site have an uncanny ability to fail at ignoring posts that are upsetting or they disagree with, turning conversations that usually run at a 2-3 to an immediate 10 on the freak out scale.

Whats funny is Ali and Tyson are so similar in the sense of promoting a fight. They were both huge wrestling fans. They sold fights at heels. They wanted everyone to hate them. Hatred draws money. Ali was huge about this. That is why Ali did so many wrestling events. He loved it. Tyson was the same way.

Ali did say Tyson would have beat him in Tyson prime, but Tyson said Ali would have beat him. We will never know, but these are the two of the baddest boxers you would ever see.

I do agree that Tyson in his prime probably would've crushed Ali. I don't think anyone would've defeated Tyson when he was crushing faces in the first round.

Ridiculous. Tyson was crushing bums while Ali was beating icons. Tyson couldn't handle Holyfield and lost to an unranked journeyman, Buster Douglas, during his prime. He got absolutely destroyed and his career virtually ended by Lennox Lewis.

Tyson prime was when Cust was alive. He had no focus after that. Tyson cant help the era he fought. He would stand toe to toe with Ali. He may lose, but its funny the hate he gets.

Ultimate respect by them two.

He died before he was champ... his prime was in his teens?

PS: I like Tyson, felt bad for him.
Focus and dedication should be considered...

I think Tyson earned the hate he got. It seems like he changed his ways after boxing but earlier on, he definitely earned it.

Buster Douglas knocked him out when Tyson was 23 years old and you want to say he wasn't in his prime cause Cus was dead? Cus died during the first year of Tyson's career when Tyson was just fighting bums. It was about a year after Cus died that Tyson won his first title so that statement is ridiculous. Former trainer Teddy Atlas called him a phony and basically painted him as a coward.

Truth be told, the biggest difference between Tyson and Ali and many other greats was their heart. Tyson had none while Ali and many of the other great fighters he fought in his prime had a ton of heart. As Ali said, he needed to reach down to the bottom of his soul and come up with the extra ounce of power it takes to win when fighting the best fighters. Tyson could never do that. Ali fought and defeated some of the most feared power punchers in history, what big power punchers existed in Tyson's era? Just him but when things didn't go his way, he didn't have the heart to reach down for something extra.

His prime was his early 20's. He lost focus and they couldn't control him. Tyson could stand toe to toe with any heavyweight in history. The speed and power was real and video shows it.

He went to jail at 25. What time do you think his prime was then? He was not the same when he came out of jail.

Ali had even more of his prime taken away at about the same age and he committed no such heinous crime. Came back beating great fighters. Never took a 10 count, his heart wouldn't allow it. Beat mega power punchers like Sonny Liston, George Foreman, Joe Frazier, Ron Lyle, Earnie Shavers and you want to posit that Tyson could stand toe to toe with the Greatest or even half of those power punchers he beat? Insane. The biggest puncher Tyson ever fought was Lewis and Lewis crushed him. Buster Douglas upset a young Tyson w/inflated ego by using his jab effectively. Ali's jab was second to none.

Who would've won:

Tyson or Ali? Both in Prime.

Ali would have punked Tyson. Hard.

I don't think Tyson could beat Norton, Frazier, or Foreman.

Tyson lost to Buster Douglas in his prime.

Tyson might be the most overrated boxer in history.

Could you imagine a mental midget like Tyson having to deal with Ali getting in his head before the fight? Tyson would be a mental wreck.

Physically Tyson always had problems with fighters who weren't afraid of him and could use their jabs to maintain distance. Ali had the best jab in boxing history. He stood in and took beatings from guys like Frazier, Foreman, and Norton. Ali wouldn't fear Tyson.

Think about this, Tyson's best win of his career is either a just out of retirement Larry Holmes or an about to retire Spinks.

Ali's win resume reads like a bunch of first ballot boxing hall of fame inductees. The argument for Tyson beating Ali is basically Tyson could punch hard and might get lucky and catch Ali.

Frazier lost 4 fights, 2 to Ali and 2 to Foreman. All 3 could have beaten Tyson easily.

im saying frazier and tyson are built similar...similar style in a sense...with different habits and techniques...... if ali dances and makes it past 6... tyson probably has no chance....

personally id rather watch frazier vs tyson.... to say frazier, known to get jacked by uppercuts would easily beat an uppercutting tyson is a bit much... that would probably be a more exciting fight to watch imo...
