Just heard that Niemi called a press conference in Finland tomorrow...wonder why?
He's coming out of the closet?

He's going back to the Zamboni?

He's pregnant?

Honestly I'd let him go if he wants that much.
Let him walk.

Sure, as long as #4 is "He's re-signing with the Hawks for 2.5 mil per or less"

Sassone thinks he'll ask for $4 million and get it.

I'm in the let him walk camp if he's really asking for that much.

I don't see how they could possibly afford that.

Without Huet, they have about $9.78M in space to sign Niemi, Hjammer, and another 7 or 8 players. Even if Niemi gets $3M, that only leaves $6.78 to sign Hjammer plus 7 or 8 players. That's going to be tight even with the less expensive prospects stepping up.

If that's the case SEE YA NIEMI!

54 NHL games and he's worth 4 mil per year? Really?

He won the Cup behind the BEST TEAM IN THE NHL. It was NOT all NIEMI, as it was Halak in two of Montreals 3 series.

This is assinine.

At his press conference today in Helsinki, all Niemi really said was "Once it's my day with the Cup I'm taking it to a sauna."

welp

Re: Niemi makes me say "NO!" (arbitration confirmed)

so let me get this straight. Zito, one of the biggest agent assholes out there is pushing for Niemi to price himself OFF of the Hawks, and Niemi holds a press conference saying he's going to Sauna with the Cup.

Oi fucking VEY!

I know, Ron. He forgot one very critical thing in all of this. First the sauna...then the ladies.

Re: Niemi makes me say "NO!" (arbitration confirmed)

From the Niemi press conference today: "I hope my career will continue in Chicago, but I cannot say what will happen. I don’t have to worry about the future, but you don’t really know who will end up signing the contract. I hope we will reach some kind of agreement."

**** you Anti. You know what kind of Cap Space trouble the Hawks are in. They brought you on board to win a Championship and after 54 NHL games you are running for the Money.

And you will win over the fans how? I hope you reach an agreement thats physcal for the Hawks, because if you don't and you fly for the cash you can go **** YOURSELF.

Yea that's pretty brutal... I don't know who he thinks he is to be demanding anything? He hasn't even played one full season yet worth of games. He had a pretty bad Flyers series and Canucks series this year as well.

Well if you hope some kind of agreement will be made, how come you signed up for salary arbitration? Obvously he doesn't hope to stay in Chicago as much as he says he does. If he really was commited to the hawks he would understand our salary cap issues and accepted as much as we could offer. Not go into arbitration asking for 4 mill. or whatever. If it turns out to be as much as 3.5, 4.0 or above, there's no way we could ink him and also be able to sign players to fill in the rest of our roster.

Hate to say it... but... he's nowhere near the talent of 4 million.

Sucks that the players I stalk turn out to be assholes after they win the Cup. Going to suck when Beach demands 7mil/yr after he wins the Cup the next few years... /sigh

Re: Niemi makes me say "NO!" (arbitration confirmed)

If it gets to arbitration, each side submits their demand/offer, correct? Say he asks for $4 Million and the Hawks offer $2.5. If the arbitor (?) finds in favor of the Hawks, does he have to sign? If he finds in favor of Niemi, are the Hawks committed to that much? What happens if it ends up in the middle somewhere? Just wondering what the outcomes can be besides him signing before they even get to the table.
