If your opinion is true then the Bowman's touch in getting contracts done is

way over rated and I would consider them to be a complete failure for not

getting Niemi and Hjammer done.

I hope you are wrong.
Holy overreaction Batman.

It's kinda tough when Bowman doesn't have any Cap Space to work with. He just can't offer the patented Tallon $3M contract.

They can always come to an agreement before Arbitration but I doubt Zito would go for that.
Me either, as an agent ZIto has to be smiling that at least one of his clients kind has the team by the short hairs right now. But do they seriously think that if the Hawks say take a walk, that they will get that kind of offer from someone else? SJ signed Nitty, and if I recall they were the only team really interested then.

Maybe Nitty was Wilsons back up plan. I seriously have a hard time believing that rumor was they wanted Niemi, then Niemi goes to arbitration and San Jose thrown an offer to Hjarlmarsson instead. Something fishy is going on here. Did Bowman piss off Wilson? McDonough maybe? I highly doubt he does this with Tallon as GM. Just saying.

Something stinks in this, no doubt. It just seems by doing this, Wilson is handcuffing the Sharks future a little bit for a 23 yr old D-man. Or does he really see next years draft being that limited...I don't know. But a team's future just got their cheerios pissed in, thats for sure. Whether it's the Hawks or the Sharks, remains to be seen.

I don't see our future being pissed in. How many prospects did we recently get through both the draft and through trades. 15+. Not to mention the many prospects we already had.

I wasn't thinking that future so much as what is going to be on the ice the next couple of years. I am not saying that the Hawks wont ice a competitive team, but our D definetly drops to a "normal" (i.e. equal to the rest of the league) if we lose Hjammer IMO.

You are correct. Two other options:1) He gets an offer sheet from another team, and 2) The Hawks negotiate above the qualifying offer. Qualifying offers are usually about 10% above the previous contract. Hjalmarsson made an average of 640K on his last contract.
In retrospect, wishful thinking.

No...Tallon just hands out 3mil dollar checks and hopes they meet up to expectations. With DT, you just needed to have 1 good season and 3mil it is...there was no 2mil dollar contract with DT. Bolland, Sharp, Byfuglien, Sopel....were all given hefty raises thanks to DT...but we spin that.

Before "jumping" to 3+ million...

Bolland - 1 full season and 19g

Byfuglien - 69gms was most he played - and was split between F/D

Sharp - had "career" year at 36g his RFA yr (hasnt hit 30 since)

Sopel - went from invite to DET ...to a 3yr 7mil

Yes, they were "important to the cup", etc. I get all that...but they all were paid based on "hoping" they meet their potential, not what they were worth at the time of signing it.

every one of those paid off and were well worth it. Keep on preaching. You are right, but EVERYONE of those contract paid off. In the tune of the fucking STANLEY CUP!

Buff would have been gone with no contract.

All three of the RFA going UFA fiasco would have been gone for NOTHING. Zip, Ziltch, ZIPPO!

They were paid and won the Cup. Maybe Tallon just knew more than you? I'll thank Tallon when I hold the Cup down the road here.

Re: Niemi makes me say "NO!" (arbitration confirmed)

And you keep on preaching that Wilson signed Nik to get back at McDonough, Bowman....maybe Doug is still mad at the Hawks because Keenan sent him home in the playoffs? Maybe Rocky as a kid, once shit in Wilson's skates in the dressing room, and it's finally payback time?

It's not fucking personal - he's trying to make his team better. Didnt the Hawks do that by signing Kopecky and Hossa from the Wings? Make themselves better AND weaken a division opponent? Or was Scotty getting back at Holland for something...and it was revenge?

Jesus....let your McD and Bowman to DT fued go already.

I didn't preach it, I typed it once. It's not personal, you got that right. Funny others NOT in a different TIME ZONE like you, much closer to the situation, MORE than agree with it. Gee, Rocket Science.

as for the last comment, when you are around and know whats going on then you can tell me that. As long as you are 1000's of miles away and know absolutely nothing and have no 35k you put into this organization STFU.

Just odd that SJ throws out the offer they did to Hammer with only ~$6.1 mil in cap space; and only 9 forwards signed...and one forward still to be signed is Setoguchi. Does Wilson seriously think that Hammer is worth losing a 1st and 3rd pick and Setoguchi...along with continuing to age their team and lessen their chances...just odd IMO, and I think he is just fucking with the 'Hawks, and taking the chance they will bite.

Re: Niemi makes me say "NO!" (arbitration confirmed)

And I did say it got us the cup...and if Lord Tallon was here - he'd be dismantling the team just the fucking same - because of those contracts....and he's be giving Nik the 3.5mil - because thats what he does. He doesnt believe in the 2mil dollar contract based on what someone is worth.

That's kind of what I suggested, knowing the parties involved and that Mcdonough does NOT have a good rap with the good old boys club. But I was shot down by someone that doesn't know any of the situation from afar. So oh well.

The team has been gutted. Like it or not it happened. While not the core, there is going to have half of a new team. Hopefully the Core is enough to continue the winning, but it will be much harder than last year IMO. I still think Wilson wants what was REPORTED over a MONTH ago, in Niemi. This was his chance to make the Hawks Chose. Knowing he and Tallon are friends I hardly believe this would play out the same way with Tallon here.

As for the Lord Tallon comment. Complete Bullshit.

Re: Niemi makes me say "NO!" (arbitration confirmed)

Yeah...being 1000's miles away, I'm lost. And my family's 3 season tickets 6 row's behind the bench for the last 30 years dont cost more than the 35K you pay..lol. I've been friends with people within the organizantion through that time, played hockey with some of their kids at both prep school and Jr's - and still have friends playing in the league....but yeah, its a conspiracy against McD and Stan Bowman and I know nothing at all.

And you can STFU about the game too then, until you ever lace up skates. You can throw your STFU and your 35K around like you can have your view and opinion on things...since I dont have season tickets and when it comes to play on the ice, since you never played a competitive game in your life, you can STFU when it comes to your views on what is considered good on ice play.

Tool.
