Didn't check isolating the just the Finals, but through the playoffs:



Niemi 2.63 GAA .910 Sv%

Leighton 2.46 GAA .916 Sv%



I would hope that we could tie up Niemi for a contract similar to Leighton's

Niemi played at least 8 more games than Leighton though, which makes it hard to compare the numbers over the entire playoffs.

Also the offensive powerhouses of Montreal and Boston that Leighton faced prior to us helped to beef up his #s.

Don't hold breath waiting for Niemi signing in CHI - negotiation process has yet to even really begin. When it does, he won't come cheap.

So, here is the question folks, what happens if they cant sign Niemi? It's all but guaranteed they send Huet down, if something else doesnt happen. WHo do we chase? Turco, Hedberg (thought I saw he was available), who????

I would not be surprised if it is Huet in that case. The team as a whole just has to be far better and clearing rebounds and preventing 3rd and 4th chances, and Huet will look better as well.

BitB, you know me brother, I have always stuck up for Huet, but even I know his days in the Indianhead are done.

I would like to think so too...but some how I just have to wonder that they are going to try it if Neimi is not signed.



The good news is that I have all the faith that Niemi would be signed, even if it means losing Ladd AND Huet's money being dumped somehow.

I'm still not a big Niemi fan, dont get me wrong, glad we had him and not Leighton, for the cup run.....just have a gut feeling he is going somewhere else.

Niemi is going to be disappointed testing the market, I think. Too many teams with solid goaltending, and too many options out there for the very few that actually need help.



I don't see how he doesn't end up in Chicago.
