Add to it Rendon = 30 AAV
Cole 30 AAV

The Cubs will be close to 156M after everything is said and done.
Math is hard but 216M and that doesn't even touch the pen.

J.D. Martinez was the poster boy of free swingers back in the days. Who is to say that people can’t change huh? Also never said he’s ideal dummy.

2011 5.8%
2012: 9.1%
2013 3.2%
2014: 6.4%
2015: 8.1%
2016: 9.5%
2017: 10.8%
2018: 10.6%
2019: 10.9%

WTF are you talking about?

There is a difference between a guy adjusting to the league and a guy who has no history of working an AB.

You have the aggressive type like Javy. And there is good reason why most are weary of him long term because the guy never spits on pitches out of the zone. He has raw power and a knack of hitting balls out of the park that should have be spit on.

Almora is the same bird with 1/10 the talent to back it.

I just hope now that Rizzo, Bryant, Baez, Zobrist are all done, that they let Nico lead off to give us some glimmer of hope for what might be next year when Nico could take over 2B. His service time is gonna be blown with this september anyway, won't it?

Schwarber is a good start but he only has 2 years of control. Happ has 4. If you toss in Russell as a gimme then you are talking.

Are you saying replace Schwarber with Happ in the deal? or send all 3?

I'm on the fence with him leading off. If he can hold a 8% walk rate and his hit tool he has the makings of an all star

Happ has potential. KC has LF opening.

Schwarber would be the primary DH and KC might let him catch again. Which jumps his value.

Russell disappears in that market. He is a toss in.

The pen can be mostly addressed from within. Kimbrel is obviously the closer. Then we have Hultzen, Wieck, Wick, Alzolay, Underwood and Mills. If you add an arm like Betances I think that could be the makings of a really strong pen.

They should pursue Cole aggressively. A rotation of Cole, Yu, Hendricks, Lester, with some combination of Rea/Mills/Chatwood should be pretty solid in a bridge year leading to the following year with Marquez, Abbott, Miller and other prospects acquired in a Bryant trade.

Castellanos should be pursued. I know Boras is his agent, but Castellanos career numbers don’t scream $25 million. I’m thinking $18-20 mill. Bryant should be traded. Maximize his value since he likely won’t be resigned and really shouldn’t be either. Sign Cervelli and move Contreras to left field or trade him. If he goes to left field then we trade Schwarber. Baez at 3b with MI of Russell and Hoerner for now. Some things aren’t ideal, but honestly this team probably isn’t any worse than this year and it’s a bridge year to getting prospects up. I think having a solid defensive catcher like Cervelli would help the pitching staff significantly too

I believe that Theo needs to focus on his anchors.

8-9 inning first. You lock that down first. A unstable pen makes all of the work that you put in for naught. Which wrecks moral.

A lead off is 2nd. You need a guy up there that gets on base. The O starts there. With out that and plugging in experiments is a failed venture.

3rd is a rotation upgrade. They can go out there and toss Chatwood out there. They really can do this. So this falls under desire vs need. After your needs are addressed then you look into desires.

My buddy who lives in Wrigleyville is over the moon that the Cubs are eliminated. He’s happy that he’ll finally have his neighborhood back to normal. Cubs games seriously have a negative effect on the quality of life on the people who live work and play around the ballpark.

Owning a home in that zone is a choice.

Same arguement that a person gets a great rent deal because his apartment is right before and under airport landing strip. Then complains about the noise.

Kind of blows that Maddon wont let Schwarber go for 40 home runs.

I said back then dummy.
Read the whole sentence.
He had 3 seasons close to 5% and that’s a fact.
You don’t bring in recent numbers to make a case for [back then].

Ya and he had a 9.1% mixed in there. Then as he matures it went back. And if you look at his minor league history he has been there.

That is why I said adjustments to superior talent

Vs being a swing first player.

Nice try

Trying to Compair Almora to JD...WTF is this world coming to....

8%. BB is league avg. And it shows a good sense of the strike zone.

3-5% means you are up there to attack and the pitcher can now make you his ***** and let you get yourself out.
