O.T. Sanders sabotaged himself in meetings.

Some people? Maybe but that's not what this instance describes. If a guy shows supreme arrogance for being above doing simple prep on a multimillion dollar proper job interview, **** his black, white or green ass. He'll need to be coached up like any QB in his position.

Showing an unwillingness to participate with some push back is an enormous red flag. It's a fricking job interview and he isn't entitled to anything. Of course a team won't accept it when you display an entitlement to not do your fucking job.

If Sanders was all that both body and brane, you'd think some 'unbiased' front office would have nabbed him as a backup before he got selected. Pittsburgh wouldn't touch him either. I doubt that was due to 'racial confidence'. Not saying stuff like that doesn't still exist in real life but cockiness is not something that will take you off an NFL draft board. They look for it... as long as you do the work.

Dude gave off Ryan Leaf, Jamarcus Russell vibes BEFORE getting drafted. At least those guys waited until they got paid to dis their coaches.
Ryan leaf and Jamarcus were the same in college as they were in the pros, teams were drooling over their natural talent regardless. Again this is a humility issue with some racial aspects especially from those who are reacting. I personally don’t give a **** as I don’t like Deion sanders but his kids never committed crimes, felonies, got into any legal trouble or etc. Apparently all it took was him and his daddy being arrogant and failing a few interviews to plummet now

I'm just glad Poles has solved this issue with the Bears at least for now...

Just looking at all the comments in this thread tells that we are fortunate it wasn't an option ...
No he hasn’t

Wow. More talented prospects didn't come to their job interviews unprepared and argumentative. If a QB doesn't take coaching, he will absolutely fail in the NFL. It's an enormous part of any evaluation.

I thought he was overrated and expected him to be selected late 1 or early 2 as opposed to early 1. I have nothing against him as a player. I even enjoy his dad's arrogance because he's walked the walk. Man, he was fun in his prime time..

Yes that should have caused his stock to drop but not this far down

They took him where you take flyers on physical traits. He didn't show any team that he could assimilate NFL football nor do the required work for same during an interview. QB is a low hit proposition anyway and the cliff becomes steep when they are unwilling to do the work.

Without a doubt our black team president and our black general manager conspired with the other 31 teams in the league to not draft a black quarterback, even though a black quarterback was drafted #1 overall the last three drafts in a row by 3 different franchises.

Sanders was a fun college talent. That does not always translate to the NFL.

He reportedly came into the NFL meetings unprepared and with an attitude. What team would invest millions up front in that? The draft is about risk and reward. Sanders provides a lot of risk and not the reward everyone thinks.

If a team thought he could come in and help their franchise win football games, they would draft him. The NFL believes he is a worth a 5th round risk.

Its now up to Sanders to prove his NFL worth.

Modo nails it yet again. Also, I heard and read a lot of teams did not want to deal with the headache his father would inevitably cause. And let's face it, he just isn't that good.

This was not about race.

Exactly, get this Rooney rule diversity and equality crap out of football!!

😏
Yeah, football is about meritocracy. I don’t care what color or gender my teams coach or players are. I just want the best product on the field.

It's not quite that easy of an evaluation. The question becomes whether a white QB in that situation falls that far. I think he does. Pride thinks he doesn't. I didn't quite expect him to fall to day 3 so pissing people off was definitely part of it. The issue is whether they would have been as pissed off by a white QB. I think so as the issue is more at the HC, OC level who probably told their GM that they didn't want to work with him.

I'm kinda surprised it was the Browns that took him with the controversy they've already had there and another QB taken earlier. Will be fun to follow that camp.

Hard Knocks :ROFLMAO:?

Shane Falco was another QB that fell in the draft due to his attitude and he was white.

What's really tragic about that is that he shares the nom de guerre with the great Falco.

(and for the ear-worm, you're welcome. "amadeus amadeus - amadeus oh-oh amadeus")

I would say the Browns had a nice draft, but the QB room is quite the gathering of mismatched toys.
Would love to see this light a fire and have Sanders be all he can be. I think they'll all need to work together for that to happen. Will certainly be interesting.

You sure are trying to die on the Shedur Sanders is a victim of systemic racism hill. Is there any proof, other than what happened over at least two decades ago that back up your belief?

The last I checked the number one overall picks for the last three years have been for black quarterbacks. Six of the ten number one overall picks at Quarterback were African American. That trope has been dead since 2011. Too bad if you don't want to believe it but Shadur Sanders dropped because he didn't interview well, wasn't prepared for the interview and teams didn't want to trust their franchise to someone that came off to potential GMs and coaches and immature and self centered.

A lot of people blame Deon but I call BS on that as well. Deon Sanders may be a big mouth and a self promoter but he was always prepared to do his job and was smart both on and off the field. Pomposity is no big deal in this game, there are plenty of players that are full of themselves. But coaches, even Coach Prime himself, don't care for a lack of preparedness. I call this a good lesson for Shadur, if he chooses learn it. He has talent but the NFL is littered with talented players that didn't want to work. It is also filled with players that put in extra effort and succeeded where they probably should have failed.
While I think Prime is on the wrong side of this one, I also don't think Black QBs taken #1 is proof that there isn't some residual bias.

The NFL is a privately owned business. What these kids did in college or how high Mel Kiper has them "ranked" does not matter. Do NFL teams want to work with them and can they help them win are the only two questions that matter.

If they don't want to work with a player because of their attitude, work ethic, agent or personal coaches (Dads included) that's their prerogative. Claims of "he fell too far" are laughable. That's the Madden player or mock drafter speaking outloud.

Ultimately, it comes down to if he's a good fit. IMO, Sanders is a bust of monumental proportions and knowing his Dad will be in your ear constantly would make me puke. Not all 32 teams needed QBs and who the F wants that distraction?

I'm hoping CU unretires his number. Makes the school like an even bigger joke than it already is.

Was Jalen Carter charged with vehicular homicide? Was Mike Green charged with rape? You aren’t “accused” until that official act happens. Big difference between alleged and accused.
You can play the semantic game but the point remains.
