Ummm restructures don’t usually work better for cutting a player early. I doubt Mack took a pay cut in his guaranteed money.

That’d be like converting a signing bonus to a base salary lol

He didn't have guaranteed money left when he was traded. His cap hit for this year was supposed to be 17.75million made up of 17.55m in base salary and 200k roster bonus. The Chargers restructured by converting 13.5 of his base salary into SB hence his salary for 2022 became 4.05m, 200k roster bonus stayed the same and that 13.5 million was now spread over 3 years with only 4.5m counting in 2022. So his cap hit for 2022 went from 17.75 to 8.75. The downside is they added 4.5 million to the 2023 and 2024 cap which made those cap hits prohibitive. I said all of this back when he was traded that they would have to cut or restructure him. They were never going to honor the last 2 years of his contract so we got a 2nd rounder for a 1 year rental.

This is Special person logic. Miller cost the Rams about 700k in salary. Mack will cost the Chargers 27m in 2023 and 2024. So there is little value attached to those years as they are so overpriced. He would have to be Aaron Donald to be worth those massive amounts.

In essence they got Mack for 1 year at about 19m spread over 2 years as they will almost surely have to cut or restructure him after this year. So the last 2 years of the deal are a mirage.

Miller at 700k is worth more than Mack at his contract value. This should be obvious.

Christian Gonzalez made himself some money today. Might have to seriously consider drafting him if we trade down and then focus on DL later given the depth there.

Healed and 100% up to full dynamics, ready for your best comparative 40 aren't the same thing. Same could be said for Carter.
JSN isn't running the 40 because he's not very fast to begin with. Watching his film, he probably runs in the mid 4.5's if he's lucky. He's a super slot, not an outside guy. I'd nab him if he drops but I wouldn't go out of my way to get him.

Except he will run it at his pro day.

My favorite teams
  1. Chicago Cubs
  1. Chicago Bulls
  1. Chicago Bears
  1. Chicago Blackhawks
  1. Michigan Wolverines
  2. Ohio Bobcats
You all are so worried about a 40 time when this team is still struggling to find receivers who will hang onto the ball.

I am only partially serious because of course I want players with track star speed. However, right now I am of the opinion if Poles drafts JSN, there are decent odds that he leads the team in receptions in the first game of the regular season.

because unless the pro days set up FAT timing systems he will be guaranteed to run 0.2seconds faster as hand times are regularly off by 0.2 seconds, most shlubs don't know this despite me trying to educate everyone year after year.
OSU has a very fast track... he'll run it on his own terms and still probably run in the 4.5's.

Yeah, they are not 0.2 seconds off. That would be like someone that runs a 4.7 running a 4.5. The effect is 0.05 to 0.1. Further do you guys think you figured this out and the NFL didn't, lol. Teams have scores of data that would adjust for this.

So no I don't think JSN is fooling anyone. He was injured and the biggest likely issue is he hasn't done all the speed training all the healthy guys at the combine would have done. He is already not a blazer and it would be monumentally stupid for him to run the 40 if he hasn't done all the requisite speed work when he is competing with a lot of guys who are already naturally faster.

I'm not worried about his 40 time, but the fact is he'll run "slow". I'm more concerned with the fact that he's exclusively a slot receiver. Fields likes to throw the deep routes, even in college. He needs someone who can go up and compete for those ball, someone who can create separation off the LOS and provide a target Fields is comfortable with.

If you read the article it actually explains exactly what I am talking about as far as fully automatic timing systems. If you read the actual article you can gain some knowledge k thx

Fields also said he would love for the Bears to draft JSN. Mooney and Claypool and VJJ have speed. The main thing Fields needs to work on to succeed is his short game so he also needs guys that can win in the short game. Eberflus was also quite adamant Fields needs too learn to take what the D gives him ie not hunt for big plays all the time.

Did you actually read my response? I wasn't disagreeing with your premise that pro day times are faster. I am telling you there is no benefit to skipping the combine for that reason because teams aren't stupid and are likely already adjusting pro day times because they know they are faster. The point of the article was to show even this website adjusts pro day times by 0.05 seconds as well as to point out the effect isn't as much as you claimed. It is not 0.2 seconds faster. Depending on position it is 0.05 to 0.1 seconds. 0.2 seconds would be a massive difference.

Cooper Kupp ran a 4.62 40

He knows how to get open just like JSN does.

I would add that being a primarily slot receiver is not a bad thing in the modern NFL. There are a lot of guys that are productive that are primarily slot receivers. As long as they have short area quickness and the ability to separate, they can make plays in the NFL.

For those in the draft JSN club, where do you see it happening?

In the article you notice they explained the lack of cameras right? The cameras inherently add 0.24 seconds on average to what is hand timed.

Interesting I didn’t realize the NFL was utilizing this Zybek technology to report times to act as a FAT.

What I’m saying is that if the scouts are using hand timers to record speed this is going to be slower than what the NFL is apparently reporting by use of the Zybek system. Apparently that system has a 0.05 speed difference.

So yes. I mean an entire 2 tenths of a second. If you use a scout of coach’s time from a pro day it is always going to be faster than an official FAT of the exact same run.

Edit: also notice this system wasn’t in place until 2016

The 3 cone and short shuttle is what you should probably be looking at for a pure slot WR as they are measures of agility. Kupp's pro day 3 cone was better than everyone's 3 cone at the combine. His short shuttle was 5th best that year behind guys like Godwin and Zay Jones.

Yeah I am saying based on historical data noted in the article the effect is 0.05 to 0.1. They compared pro day and combine times and also looked at people who ran at the combine and their pro day as well. And Zybek has actually resulted in pro day and combine times getting closer together as the must recent data shows there were 0.035 seconds apart.

For those in the draft JSN club, where do you see it happening?

Ask again after he works out. His pro day and combine are likely more important than for other prospects given he barely played this past season. If he is fluid and does well in the agility drills and then runs a good 40 time at his pro day then think he ends up in the top 16.
