Welcome to the Bears. Trade down twice and end up with the Titans 11th and draft JSN.

Or better yet. Trade down from 1 to 12 and get 35, and Houston's 2 first next year or one of their firsts and a 3rd this year and 2nd next year.
Beggars (in this case me, and not Poles) can’t be choosers, but not coming away without a 2nd round pick earlier than 45 this year would be a mistake.

Counterpoint: the franchise tag is collectively bargained.
48.4% voted against the last CBA. And it was mostly fringe starters and bottom of the roster types that approved because the NFL raised the minimum salaries. Most of the star players were against it.

I would think a Titans trade involves 11, 41, 72, 1st and 2nd round picks in 2024 and a first rounder in 2025. For that haul, I am fine with 41. Or you can substitute Simmons for the 2025 first round pick.

I was just stating that you're acting like your opinion is the end all be all in regards to the LT position. All in on a 5th round rookie? He was labeled the starter on a team that was torn down. You have your thoughts and I have mine. I just want better out of my LT... that's it that's all. And if they move him to RT then so be it. IMHO he is currently below average as a pass protector and the tape clearly shows he needs a lot of work. He is trending up which is nice, but leaves a bit to be desired. That's all I'm saying. Appreciate the dialogue, but what you consider a waste of time may not be for someone else. That's why GMs are hired and fired all the time. Good day.
Jones graded out as the top rookie LT. Everyone wants to compare him to the top LT's in the league but it doesn't work that way. LT's just don't come into the league and dominate. Thayer said Jones has everything he needs to be a top LT in the league, just have to see if he has the desire and work ethic to get there. I'd like to see what an off-season in the weight room and with an NFL coaching staff does for him before I dismiss him at LT.

You're acting like my opinion is the end all be all. I never said it was. As always, my opinion is based on facts that are available. And it is a fact that Jones had a relatively successful rookie year without competition last year.

I apologize for saying it's a waste of time. This is a message board, you can talk about whatever you want. Don't mean to come off like I run anything. Just saying, you're setting yourself up for disappointment if you want Jones to get a serious competitor or moved to the bench. It's simply not going to happen.

Your wording came off a bit snide, but maybe I misread your tone. Yes he had a good year. He was very good at run blocking, but below average as a pass protector. Just because he started last year on a torn down team does not mean they won't address the LT position at all. I do agree that there are more areas to cover with decent starter level talent, but I personally would not be happy if they didn't bring in someone to compete with him. Competition brings the best out of everyone. Iron sharpens iron. That's all I'm saying.

Not dismissing him but just want some comp brought in. He did a decent job but pass protection left more to be desired. I just don't want to see JF hurt when defenders are pushing Jones into him. I'm happy he graded out well this year but also see the warts. Hope he looks better in '23.

Yeah, I agree with that. And I'd be all for competition if the Bears didn't need 2 DEs, 2 DTs, 2 LBs, a CB, RT, LG, C, WR, RB, and TE along with having a RG who has spent over half his career injured so far. If the Bears had adequate level play everywhere else, then sure I'd be all about making Jones earn it. But he's in the position where he's almost the least of our worries....for now.
