It was interesting to see him line up at HB/TB and get one sweep toss. It was the only time I noticed that he was lined up in the backfield from the start. Probably need to set that up better so the defense doesn't clue in to it right away.

They need to put in an option play with VJJ. Having to decide to follow VJJ and his 4.3 speed or Fields and his 4.4 speed will put a lot of stress on the D IMO. Right now with Monty and Herbert, those guys don't have the speed to take it to the house.

Niners gave up 3 first and a 3rd to go from 12 to 3 so need a 2nd and 3rd IMO rather than a 3rd and 4th for that Jets trade.

For the Colts, they would need to give me 3 firsts again to give up on Anderson and Carter. That or I would need 2 first and 2 2nds in the next two drafts.

Giants trade is probably at fair value.

Is this a joke?
Did you hit your head?
Haven't like 2 of his draft picks signed 2nd contracts with the bears of 7 drafts?

Yeah I mean his last 2 drafts were probably his best but too late to save his job. @dabears70 just thinks drafting starters is all that matters oblivious to the fact that in 7 drafts the expectation would be you draft at least a few bonafide stars. The only guy that may turn out to be a bonafide star is Fields but again too late to help Pace.

How many yards does Fields need to break Lamar Jacksons single season record? He's close, right?

Edit:

Jackson owns the NFL record with 1,206 rushing yards in 2019. Jackson also had a 1,005-yard season in 2020, and Michael Vick had a 1,039-yard season in 2006. Those are the only 1,000-yard rushing seasons for a quarterback in NFL history.

Have to see if Getsy lets him attempt it.
Needs 75 yards per game. I know we've already become spoiled by his rushing ability but thats tough, especially with a gimpy shoulder. Its too bad they waited until week 7 to incorporate designed runs. Plus missing 1 week with an injury. Fields could have easily gotten the record.

The best scenario imo would be to have #2 and trade it to whoever is at 4 for that team's second rounder. #4 (let's say SEA) is taking QB there, and if HOU takes QB, Bears are guaranteed either Carter or Anderson and they have pick 34 or so as well.

No reason SEA wouldn't do this, they are loaded with picks, if they really want that QB.

This is actually a good point. Why does VJJ have to be a prototypical WR? What if the Bears didn't draft him to be that?
Then it's called a reach., which i think is problem most of the people have with him who hated this pick.

That was sarcasm.

I think his struggles are precisely because they haven't committed to him in a CP role just yet. I think they were hoping he could be a more well rounded WR. That does not appear to be in the cards so the question is how quickly do they pivot to him filling the Patterson role. Will we see him get 5-10 touches around the LoS as a runner or WR with the occasional deep ball after the bye or will they wait until the offseason to try and redefine his role.

If they had committed to him in the Patterson role from the get go then don't think Ebner would have gotten the opportunities he did nor would they be giving Evans the opportunities they are giving him. So think they had bigger hopes of him being a Deebo type ie a WR that moonlights as a RB but probably need to switch gears and make him a Patterson type ie a RB that moonlights as a WR.
OK so first he was deebo-lite and now since he has been ass it's coming back to earth as a CP comp.

Word.

Member when Jerry Angelo spent a third round pick on Jaquin Iglesias, who never played a snap in the NFL despite the Bears having literally no one at receiver???
Too soon to judge that pick. Also hard to get snaps in the NFL when the coaches dont give you snaps in the NFL. Not a bad pick because GMs sometimes make bad picks....or something.

I think he can definitely come close. But will he only throw for <200 and score 30 points, if so fail.

Speed in the backfield is lowkey a sneaky need for the Bears. Like you said, the stress on the D that Fields AND another 4.3-4.4 runner would put on the defense is crazy. Fields breaks a 50-yarder every week. So, now if you get ends not crashing and LBs/safeties hesitant because of that, you can hit them quick inside for a huge gain.

I'd love the Bears to be in position to sign a guy like Tony Pollard or even Saquon Barkley if their teams let them go. Also, if they can get enough picks in a trade back to get a Jahmyr Gibbs from Bama. Worst case, I'd love them to sign a Jeff Wilson or Mostert from Miami.

Using that much money or a high draft pick on a RB is probably a luxury, but it's a viable option to add something to this offense if you can't add help at WR. Velus is an option in the backfield as well, but Fields, Velus, Mooney, Claypool, Gibbs/Pollard/Mostert all on the field is dynamic and how Miami and SF put pressure on defenses, and they don't even have the QB run factor.
