I would have paid him that much in free agency. Figured it would take over 14Mil AAV, was thinking closer to 16M than 17M or potentially 18.5M though, but the Bears have the money and the need, I would have gladly paid that for Jenkins. Who by the way, has not been at all bad as was said in this thread. He struggled early on at RT, but was still average. He's been great again back at LG.

Damn you'd pay Jenkins more money than Nelson? I don't see him being worth it unless you can actually stays healthy but it must show that his knee is looking good in the medicals.

Sorry I’ve been vocal about not wanting him after watching him get pushed around on a few occasions this year.
I haven’t watched or paid attention to him really but a couple packers friends/family told me he has turned the corner basically and playing like he was before the acl

Hopefully not true now

We have been hearing for a while now that the Packer's cap situation is going to be all messed up due to the Rodger's contract. But then you see this. I know that structure will have a lot to do with it, but where does this put them with their cap space and what they do with Rodger's going forward?
They are setting themselves up for a Saints-like kick the can apocalypse in a couple of years.

Yeah everything I heard was there was some rust early from ACL and the RT thing was no bueno. But has been great again at guard.

He was just bad at RT but has always done well at guard.

Packers signed LT David Bakhtiari and he never sees the fields as well but he can be cut after this season.

He's not a DT but Bears need a DE just as much.

From a Denver article:

Selected by the Broncos in the third round of the 2019 draft, Jones showed promise as a pass rusher with 3.5 sacks but struggled against the run as a rookie. He got better from there and is now in year four where new Denver defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero has Jones playing the “Aaron Donald position.”

“It’s an honor to kind of represent somebody who has been so great for this game for the past 9 years,’’ Jones said of Donald. “It’s a privilege to try and resemble that. I appreciate the coach believing in me and seeing something in me that resembles anything with him. It’s cool.”

The Aaron Donald position?

“Just moving around,’’ Jones said. “I don’t want to get too much into details but it’s about doing different things. Just a very unique 3-technique.’’

Yes. I don't care what Quinton Nelson is getting paid, because Quinton Nelson wasn't going to be available. Players don't get paid in order of their talent/performance. They get paid based on their demand. And the Bears have a huge need everywhere on the OL. There's nothing they shouldn't pay (within reason) for a good player.

And Jenkins' knee is fine. He's dominating again the last 3-4 weeks.

Broncos primarily run a 3-4 and he plays NT at times.
Everyone needs to prepare for Payne getting re-signed too. If Packers can pull this off then Commanders can definitely take care of him.
He might be hit with the franchise tag.

Colts might be tearing everything down this off-season and having an entirely new front office. Colts beat writers are discussing that Buckner/Nelson might be available as a new GM takes over and starts over. They also paid a lot for a RT as well. Part of the problem with Ballard is he shelled out big money to 3 non-premier positions in WLB, RT and OG while putting yearly band-aids on the QB position.

I wouldn't say fine since he's been missing some practices because of it. Packers gambled on David Bakhtiari who is always injured.

Exactly Bears offensive line has holes everywhere that why I told @Chicagosports89 we need to focus on RT and Center while we keep Whitehair for his last year.

This team can draft his replacement or get his replacement in FA 2024 just get a RT and a C.

Not sure what choices the Colts had for QB tho in FA. They tried.

GB OL in FA tend to be disappointments for 2 reasons:

1. Playing with an elite QB makes them look better. NE OL that played with Brady tended to be busts for their next team. Bears overpaid for an average LT in Bushrod while Brees made him look much better with his insanely quick, short throws.
2. And of course, they won’t get the calls anymore on their new team.

I’m not terribly worried about missing out on Jenkins even if he has looked better as of late. Lucas Patrick looked considerably worse than he did in GB in the short amount of time he played this year. A lot of that had to do with not having elite QB play

Trade up and draft a QB maybe? Don’t send a 1st for Wentz and then send picks for Matt Ryan. They didn’t have to sign or trade for a veteran. Ballard made the mistake of believing his roster was one QB away from the SB. In reality, Colts were simple mediocre to slightly above average(at best).

The only thing Patrick and Jenkins have in common was the same team. Look at the contracts they just signed. One is elite. One is a scrub.

Pure speculation but I would have assumed Jenkins would have been one of the Bears top targets.

I’m sure he would have been but I’m glad it’s not the case anymore. Early christmas present for me!
