If that's true they better hope Shanny can fix Darnold quick.Reps doesn't cure bad and splitting 2nd team reps with Sam Darnold isn't a path to better. How he ever got hyped into a 1st rd QB off of such limited tape is beyond me. One year of outstanding college production is rarely a great barometer( unfortunately, see Mitch Trubisky). How a low college level, minimal starts, year removed from playing QB goes #3 after trading 3 1st is criminal by the 49ers. And I can near guarantee Purdy is going to do a less douchey 2nd year Mac Jones-esque cliff dive this season.
Definitely some good and bad with our OL.The eye test for me with the offensive line was that when the offense was in a known passing situation, especially when needed for entire drive like at the end of a half or the game...they did not hold up. And imo, that is really the difference and how best to highlight the offensive line issues last year and really the past couple of years.
I already did but thanks for the go ahead.Honestly, I just don’t care. Claim whatever you like.
So much for the genius HC and GM.
What's that song? " I believe in miracles".Add to that his one good year was in a predominantly running team. At least Mitch was a passer on a passing team his one year of good college ball.
Getting Fields was a miracle because so many things have to have happened for him to become a Bear.
Poles would give his left nut to have Shanahan. The hc that's been to 3 nfccg's and a super bowlSo much for the genius HC and GM.
he's has a post-graduate degree, I forget in what, however....the man is very smart....I'll bet he'll learn the playbook. If not already.Don't know if he'll be all that or not but we knew he had a history of slow to acclimate from college. Gifted athlete that may not be the sharpest pencil in the bag. He's obviously been working hard and getting better. Fingers crossed.
i laugh every time some idiot tries to talk shit about Kyle Shanahan.Poles would give his left nut to have Shanahan. The hc that's been to 3 afccg's and a super bowl
I'll agree with that, thanks.Many thanks Bears26.
That game was/is the best comparison to this point and JF was head & shoulders better. The last time I witnessed Fields and Lawrence go head to head, they were each on stacked college teams.
The outcome would have been a knockout if it was boxing.
Fields absolutely looked like the superior player.
Is only making 4.9 MM this year, wants a new contract and Vikes don't have the $$'s.So why is Min so willing to trade him??
You're right I was going to say that, then saw your post. True, true. All the focus on skill is misplaced. You can’t overlook our horrible Oline play for all the years JF1 has been QB1. Trevor Lawrence has been given much more time in the passing game than JF1 has been given.
Hopefully that changes this year…….
For once we agree.Poles would give his left nut to have Shanahan. The hc that's been to 3 afccg's and a super bowl
Historically, the SF passing game has been consistently hugely superior to the Bears.
Maybe we should wait a bit before gloating about TC results.
I think the talent is still there for him to turn it around but yes likely not getting a huge 2nd contract at this point unless Purdy gets injured. Crazy to think he was basically paid 100k per college attempt ie 318 attempts x 100k is 31.8m.HE had 99 HS attempts, then 31 attempts in the 2 season sandwiching his 287 attempt in what should be called $34M season. He needs reps, but for NFL longevity those should have come at NDSU. Hard to say a guy made a wrong decision by banking $34M, and he may have shit the bed the next season at NDSU and dropped like a rock, but $34M is RB money, and we all know about RB money. It safe to say he won't be getting an Allen, Herbert, Burrow, or likey Lawerace/Fields $260M after third yr extension and more likely will follow the Darnald path to obscurity.
So much for the genius HC and GM.
I love "old school" plays with a Fullback involved.......which reminds me.... Da Bears first ever TD in a SB was scored by a Fullback......"I'm lovin' it"I love this fullback and I'm genuinely thrilled that he has a place in the team.
