The Cubs finally sign a high draft pick, inking 3rd rounder OF Ezekiel (Zeke) DeVoss. He was assigned the the AZL Cubs.

Given that DeVoss was considered in the fold for a couple weeks before the Cubs actually signed him, maybe that's a good sign with respect to the other high picks - the Cubs could have them "in the fold," but it's just taking some time to hammer out the details.

I'm just clutching for optimism at this point.

Devoss signs for 500K, 47% above what that round is expected to sign for. Not cheap there...

Jim Callis also mentioned the Cubs did sign their 6th round pick already but I don't see any report saying the Cubs did. Trying to confirm the Cubs did.

This would be big news, and I am very curious what the price tag is going to be. Ricketts has been big spenders as far as acquiring prospects this year, and it would be interesting to see if the budget for international prospects is being reflected in the draft.

It's expected to be higher than slot. Like I said, Ricketts is putting money towards draftees and internationl free agents.

Rosario fell in the draft because he was expected to be a hard signing. This could have been a big steal and signing.

The Cubs will not sign 8th round pick OF Taylor Dugas. He wants more money than the Cubs will offer. He's gona return to school for his senior year.
