The Cubs will not sign 8th round pick OF Taylor Dugas. He wants more money than the Cubs will offer. He's gona return to school for his senior year.

It's okay, we have about 30000000 OFs in the system anyway

The Cubs have had a real good run of signing their overslot guys so far. A few big names still out there that could really help, but it has been nice to see the amount of resources being devoted to acquire premium young talent.

That is the plan.

Rumor: The Cubs could be on the verge of signing or have a deal in place for 2nd rounder Dan Vogelbach, 11th rounder Shawon Dunston, Jr and 14th rounder Dillon Maples. Wouldn't that be so sweet!

Also, the Cubs could be close to signing 41st rounder Austin Urban.

I guess we'll just see what happens and hope this is true.

Vogelbach, Dunston Jr. and Maples would be an amazing haul of overslot guys especially considering the guys that have been signed with Gretzkey and others. Get these and a deal for Baez done and this could be Wilken's best draft.

Rumor: The Cubs are making a late push for 26th rounder RHP Michael Jensen. The Cubs up their offer to him. He's already committed to USC. Gona be interesting.

No news on Javier Baez eh? Or is he just a foregone conclusion to sign?

No news on Baez but only 7 first round picks have signed yet and none higher than Baez. I am guessing that a deal gets done, but it will probably go down to the wire as each side tries to get the best deal possible. The Cubs handing out overslot money like candy right now might also be working against them when they try to sign Baez.

Maybe Baez gets a bit of candy too. At the same time, the Cubs can get a top 5 pick for sucking so hard this year plus a comp pick if Baez doesn't sign, so I'm not going to be too displeased if that's the way it goes as long as this other rumor about all the overslotting and commitments/signings is true :D

I'm guessing Baez probably gets slightly overslot money as well, but again just thinking out loud about what is the hold up in a deal for Baez. I am still guessing that a deal gets done since it sounded like the kid wanted to go pro and get his money sooner than later. But I could be wrong.

Baez will sign with the Cubs. There's no doubt in my mind. There are rumors out there too that the Cubs have a deal in place with Baez but are just waiting.

The Cubs have signed 10th round pick SS Daniel Lockhart.

Sources: The Cubs have a deal in place for 5th round pick RHP Taylor Scott.

His twitter account: Ricardo Jacquez wants to sign with the Cubs, if not he'll go to college. He is a LHP and drafted in the 39th round.

The Cubs sign 9th round pick OF Garrett Schecht for 235K. That's above slot and was the largest bonus given to a 9th round pick as of yet.

I wonder how many guys the Cubs have signed this year to overslot money. It seems far more than any previous year. I know the Cubs were scolded by the league office a few years back for going overslot too much, but this seems far and away more than any other year.
