How can you control busts? Is it Theo's fault Crawford sucked? Not at all. Im sure every single boston fan was excited to get Crawford. Adrian Gonzo was definitely not a bust. Lackey was a top 15 pitcher in the MLB when the Bosox's signed him. How is that his fault? HOW

Gonzo was a trade.

And the point is that he throws too much money around and there are rumors that he'd require Ricketts to vastly raise payroll to over 160M so he can keep doing that.

We can say the same about Fonzie, Z, Ramirez etc... at the time thye weren't and were considered not too bad of deals.

I don't think CC will be a bust, tho. Prolly still overpaid.

Ok yes Gonzo was a trade but it was a great trade. And I'm pretty sure he will know how to spend his money if its a little less in Chicago

But there's rumors that he'll require Ricketts to raise payroll to Boston level if he is to come here.

It may be less in the first year or so because of the contracts still on the books, but once those are gone, the payroll should be on par with the one he had in Boston.

No one is telling Ricketts what to do with his money...said it before and I'll gladly say it again that Ricketts doesn't have the resources to field a competitive MLB team.

Yea and show me those rumors.

They're probably not legit, but do you honestly think Epstein will come here if he won't be allowed to spend?

Right now he doesn't. That will change soon. If he wants to field a winner, no reason he can't make it happen.

Do you realize the opportunity Theo has? He has the chance to become a chicago and baseball legend if he comes here and wins.
