Idk ask Firehawk? and how can you say Ricketts doesn't have enough money? Tampa had a 42million payroll and went to the playoffs? CMON MAN
The Cubs don't have the prospects Tampa has/had.

The Cubs spent good money after bad.

Theo (or any GM) can build a compeitive team if they are smart/clever. I can see it. Theo (or any GM) will get money to spend and he will make trades to better the club. If the Cubs hire Theo, it shows Ricketts wants to win and will get Theo the resources to do so.

Book it!

If Cubs lose for 10 straight years like TBR then we could have specs that TBR have!!! TBR got good cause they had so many Top 5 picks

Wait one second...the Pirates? lol, almost this year but fell off bad.

But for the most part, your right on.

When the bad contracts are off the books, the resources will all be there to field a winner. To say otherwise is foolish.

However, just because he can field a winner doesn't mean he will. So the question remains, will he? This GM signing should give us a clue as to the answer of that question.

Ok but when those bad contracts are starting expire and everything. The Cubs can have a payroll of like 140. so still thats 100million more than Tampa.

You're coming off stupid
You're the same person who said Friedman who built a $42M team was better than Epstein at $160M.

The Cubs have about $140M and will until Soriano, Byrd, and Dempster's contracts run out.

They won't run out for awhile yet, and I don't see Ricketts spending anymore money for another offseason or 2.

It does take some good scouting by TBR to do what they doing but it helped having top 5 picks for long time. Last 4 years have been impressive cause they have been bottom of halve picks
