****, NHL left PA voicemail calling their movements unacceptable, and they cancelled talks tomorrow. Would be unbelievable if this wasn't the NHL.

Someone on Facebook said the deal is off because the NHL rejected it?

Sounds like some obligatory last minute knife twisting - y'know the give em a few more jabs and create just a little bit more angst before we finally say ok . Then they'll announce a deal just in time for Christmas . Thaaat's right ... a nice little piggyback on the Xmas mojo , which is some shrewd PR work .

An interesting article from JJ.

I've been on record for a little while saying I put this more on the "players" than the owners as of right now. Tomorrow is the day in my eyes. If there is no deal by the end of the day (as of right now they aren't even meeting) then I have serious, serious doubts of a season taking place (even more so then now).

Patrick Kane
produced a goal and an assist to help Biel earn a 5-4 win over Lugano on Tuesday. He has racked up 15 points in 12 games in Switzerland during the lockout. Kane's Biel teammate and Boston forward Tyler Seguin finished the contest with a goal and a helper as well to give him 37 points in 24 appearances overseas.

Bettman isn't great but is getting way too much of the blame where Fehr is getting much less... Fehr is the greater of the two evils IMO.

I'd agree. Everything I am reading today is that the players were ready but Fehr told them to hold out for more. The blame has definitely shifted to Fehr in a big way over the last week, atleast in the public eye.

The one thing I don't get is why the NHLPA continually allows their players to post on twitter, talk to the media, etc...I think it is just hurting themselves and the entire process. The owners having a gag order on themselves is pretty damn smart.

Elaborate rather than using  and acting like your opinion is superior to everyone else's without even a discussion on the subject.

Not really. The players being so I guess "available" to the public through social media fuels the fans anger against the NHL which turns the pressure on the league itself. What the players are doing is incredible. Sure the vacation pics aren't bright but for the most part it is tweets and what not about the lockout.

I actually think the opposite. The tweets and interviews have showed a divide between the players at times - with a few players coming out against Fehr and not accepting a deal. This isn't happening with the owners because we aren't hearing anything from them. I don't think the players' interviews/twitter is turning the fans against the NHL at all. I think it is doing more harm than good.

I wish the NHL and NHLPA would get rid of both as joe would say ass clowns

Fehr is keeping the players from being pounded in the ass by the owners. If it wasn't for him the nhl may not be locked out but the players would have been fleeced plain and simple.

I will agree to disagree with hw. no sense going back and forth in a circle on an opinion based post(s)

I think Fehr has absolutely helped the players...to a point. It seemed like they reached that point last week, just going off of quotes and media (which can be dangerous) which have basically stated that the players were ready to play, but Fehr was not. The NHL definitely gave in on some things but Fehr is playing a dangerous game by holding out for more still. Maybe it will work...but if it doesn't it seems like it falls on his shoulders and would be catastrophic.

whether they play this season or not, it's not due to Fehr holding out for more this past week. This shouldn't even have gotten this far, but it did due to a horrible commisioner and a handful of owners. At the end of the day when all is said and done this is bettman and those owners faults.
