Him looking nothing like Payton is what failed to convince me.
You could see Payton making people miss. In his own way the same with Hester's returns, you could see it happen while he was making people miss.
I just can't see it with Jeanty. He's obviously good but I can't see why.

I won't be happy if we trade up for him but mainly because it's a trade up. If we get him at any spot it will be interesting to watch for sure. I'll also enjoy making a deeper dive into his college films.
The fact that a running back is being considered in the top 5 is compounded by how he ran all over a poor conference full of guys who won't be playing in the NFL. What's more is that he's not particularly big and not particularly explosive either. What's more than that is when you look at all the top 10 RB draft picks in the last 10 years, none have really translated to team success for the team that drafted the guy.

Trading up for that could end easily be a big disaster, especially when you're a team that's struggled to build the trenches. For as much work as we did there, all you need is another Billings injury and one to Thuney or Dalman and you're in a bad way yet again. For christ's sake, #trenches

Not sure if it has been mentioned, but a trending rumor is Jaxson Dart at 9. There may be a run on these shitty QBs! That is the best case scenario for the Bears.

No it won't. It will merely affirm what we already know about Ryan Poles. When Poles had a guy he does stupid things. Claypool Davis Bates Leatherwood Johnson time and time again Poles develops a man crush on a football player and sets the Bears back.

This is a very dramatic take. The only one of those moves that really “set the bears back” was Claypool. Davis was a dud but hardly set them back…Bates cost a 5th and is currently their backup C who could also play OG, assuming he’s healthy.

You're not all wrong but you're using stupid examples. Claypool, sure. There was reportedly stiff competition in the trade market for him so we needed to offer a 2nd that the Steelers thought would be more valuable than the Packers' and then the wheels fell off to make it the 33rd overall pick. Poles certainly does seem to be a traits-based guy and Claypool was loaded with traits.

Davis wasn't overpaid or anything, he just sucked for whatever reason. I don't remember seeing Poles being "in love with Nate Davis." Bates is just a backup but he did overpay for him and Leatherwood was a dart throw.

A point against the narrative is how Cunningham convinced Poles to stand pat when he otherwise wanted to trade up for Odunze. At the end of the day, that's on Poles' record as hanging back and still getting his guy.

Jeanty isn't an outlier when it comes to size or speed so I wonder how much truth there is to Poles/Johnson's burning desire for him. And hopefully Poles learned from waiting on Odunze to not trade-up for Jeanty.

Biggs final mock 10. Williams DE 39. Conerly OT 41. Taylor TE
I love the first two picks and don't mind going with the 3rd best TE in this draft at 41 but rather grab a few different guys at either DT to backup Billings or RB.

I dont like it. But I'll be disappointed about them doing it and thrilled to have jeanty at the same time. But seriously, I hope they don't do it

I hate taking a running back in rd 1 even though Jeanty was awesome last year. The history of the position is they don't last a long time in the league. So, taking one at 10 makes me sick even if he's the best player available due to longevity concerns. The thought of trading up is so monumentally stupid that I cannot comprehend it as realistic and there is no spin, barring a Super Bowl win that would excuse it imo. Find a competent RB later in the draft or as an UDFA like seemingly every other team or trade down/out if there's really no one else you like.

Just please not a RB or a TE who isn't on Bowers-level (who they bypassed last year).

I would be shocked if the bears stayed at 10. They’re either trading up (jeanty or blockbuster trade for Carter) or moving back.

You have two choices and only these two, which one do you choose?

Trade up for Jeanty giving up one of our 2nd rounders and a 2026 3rd?

Taking Tyler Warren or C.Loveland at #10?

I think the media is way overplaying the narrative that Ben Johnson needs “his guy” Jeanty. He’s supposed to be a brilliant offensive mind, right? The offense in Detroit looked really damn good before Gibbs, right? It’s a super deep RB class, right? Cmon now.

I'm just checking in on the draft now. Why all the jeanty hate folks? Looks like he has great balance, very quick feet and explosive acceleration. That's my impression based only on highlights only. Was he that much less impressive in games?

Poles record on draft day pick moves - In three drafts, he's moved up a grand total of once, the small move from 61 to 55 for Stevenson. He's had one lateral pick swap (a 5th {Booker} last year for this year's 4th). And he moved down seven times. So, based on his past trend, Poles is more likely to move down than up. However, he's far more likely to just stay where he is and take who's there...

I think most people don’t hate him. It’s really not about that at all.
