I'm leaning towards "doesn't" but if he does sign, it'll either be a really awesome "screw you Boras" deal or something that will really piss me off

Yeah he's definitely not signing now. The Cubs shouldn't even be mentioned any more.

I have moved into the we are not going to sign him camp and for me it is 70/30. The only thing that makes me think it might happen is that the market is softening.

The real question is who plays 1B?

Someone who can catch the ball when it's thrown to him. More important than you think with the 2012 Cubs

Probably a platoon of Baker and LaHair will work on defense. On offense, it literally doesn't matter now

You get what I am saying though, right? With Castro and Stewart you need to give them all the confidence they can get with their defense. Especially with Stewart IMO, since he might only have D to offer.

I think if the infielders can throw the ball in the general direction of the first baseman, chances are he can catch it. So I agree with you there. The priority isn't who to stick at first base, but to teach the infielders how to not suck at throwing the ball.

Totally agree...too bad I romantize it when players cared about their defensive performance as much as they did their performance with the bat.

It's not like the Theo Administration has said that though. It's all coming from the media. The fact that everyone is making all these assumptions is really quite funny if you look at it. No one knows what the **** Theo is doing, so why are people still making assumptions? Everything is hush hush to start drawing lines to thinks is a bit silly, IMO. Plus, they could be doing this just to make Scott Boras their *****.

In a way, the Cubs will not be the ***** either because they're not going to give up a 10-year contract at Pujolsian levels, because Fielder is not Pujols.

Is this like the time LoMo tweeted about Pujols in Miami when he was actually talking about a dog or something

It would not shock me in the least that he is going to take the big money out in Seattle.

No matter how much I tell myself the rebuilding is important I am still disappointed that we did not get him. He would have been fun to watch.

The Prince ----> Mariners thing seems to be trending. At least it'll get him out of the league.
