I've followed the Padres for years. Great start, will choke any day now. LeBlanc's meltdown is probably the beginning.

A-Gon would be ripe if they do choke!

AJ needs to be traded NOW. He should have been gone probably as early as the deadline last year, but now he REALLY needs to be shipped off while he has SOME value. There's little chance he will be even a Type B FA at the end of the season, and there are always teams stupid enough to give up real value for a catcher that "handles the staff well".

Eh, maybe. There's still a lot of power floating around the league at first base, much of it to be had for a lot less than Konerko and his contract. The thing is, if a team were to be interested in acquiring Paulie, would what the Sox get in a rent-a-player deal be worth what they could potentially get by offering him arbitration and getting the draft picks if he declines?

Konerko still has a few years left in the league, probably, so he would most likely turn down arb and seek a sunset cruise deal elsewhere; and if his production stays roughly the same, the Sox could be looking at two extra first round picks.

So unless the package offered for him is too good to believe, I'd say leave him on the roster, offer him arbitration at the end of the year, then collect the draft picks when someone like the Angels or Cubs sign him.

I also hope that we trade Bobby and make Santos the closer.

 I really don't get why people want Santos immediately inserted in the closing role. Yeah, Santos has been phenomenal.....in his first 16 innings as an MLB reliever. Meanwhile, Thornton has pitched many more innings than Santos over his career, and has proven himself to be a relief ace, all while posting markedly better numbers than Santos this season.

Do you people fail to grasp the concept of "small sample size", especially when applied to a converted reliever that has only pitched 16 innings in his career? I don't get it.

The kid Tyler Flowers in the minors that they have. He a good prospect? I ask cause I haven't really heard anything about him except a small write up in the paper this morning.
