Never ever ever never get a "developmental" QB. It is a waste of a perfectly good draft pick. If there is a sleeper nobody knows about or one who's projected to be good falls you can get them but stop trying to polish a turd.

If you want to get a backup QB look no later than the 4th and even then only one who is expected to be able to play. Orton yes, Hanie no.

A sleeper pick is a developmental pick. If that pick were already polished he'd wouldn't be that low in the draft. It's not likely a polished QB makes it that far down the draft without some team taking a swing at em. It is a case of no one seeing the upside in a player. Probably because his upside would only work in a handful of schemes and yours happens to be one. Best case in point Rehbein told Belichick that Brady was "the best fit for the [Patriots'] system" and others in the front office and among the coaches agreed.

I think it’s pretty clear that the Packers don’t have depth on their team. They are undoubtedly a one man show AND they still draft developmental QBs.
The Packers have drafted one QB in the last 5 seasons................
So Um....

What?

As for the Redskins, think about where they’d be if they didn’t draft Cousins...?
Again. The Redskins had the draft capital to do so.............

I want them to draft a late QB. There will never be a time when we can afford to, so do it anyway if a guy you like is there. This is the perfect staff to grow the man. Take advantage of what we should be good at. Draft one every other year, train him, trade him, become a QB factory.

Also to get back to the original question, the correct answer is NONE. 1000 one word reply's of none would make this a great post.

You either mean a QB who is never on time or a dead guy........

Well if they're all Hanie and Fales, no. If Rodgers fell because he sucked we're not going to fix him. If Brady would only work in NE, he's not going to work here. We are more like the Browns than we are like NE or GB and that's not going to magically change over night.
So now you've bumped me up to late 1st and 2nd if you want to find a backup QB or possible future upgrade.

Yes that will change overnight. We have the staff now to grow QBs. The past is gone and it does not dictate the future. This staff changed overnight and our thinking should too.

Also Cousins was the insurance policy to RG3....Shanahan was never a fan or supporter of RG3, so I don't think Cousins was drafted as the project but more of if RG3 doesn't pan out they still could have a shot with Cousins

Also, IIRC Cousins was the immediate backup because Washington didn't even have any QB's on the roster headed into the draft or they only had one. The Bears have/will have three.

EDIT: Looked it up, only QB on the Redskins roster prior to the draft that I could find was Rex Grossman.

It takes more than getting a scrub QB to turn them into a good QB. What has happened on the Bears that tells you they can even build a team to make a #2 QB succeed let alone a long shot?

Things change and the Bears are changing with it finally. This staff and GM are new school. This coach is a QB whisper and offensive guru. This whole thing is set up modern and QB friendly. Pace is all in on Trubs and will support him with this staff and put talent around him. What makes you think they can't??? Please don't say past history, Pace and Nagy and Trubs were not here then.

Leanord was out played that week by another rookie named Cohen.
Tarik Cohen had a historical day on Sunday. The rookie had 66 yards on the ground, another 47 yards receiving (plus a TD), and 45 punt return yards, for a Bears rookie season-opening record of 158 total yards. He also led the team in those three categories, and in targets (12) and receptions (8).

lmfao...oh please "historical"...please remove Tarik's dick from your mouth!

Hard to say. Recall how Watson's draft stock dropped by playing and putting up more INT's regardless of the TD's, wins, and a championship. The more tape he had the more fools picked him apart and he slides to #13 :turrible:

College DC's would have had a year of tape on Trubisky and would have been able to more effectively gameplan against him.

Those things are worth being hopeful but certainly not worthy of crowning anyone yet.

Pace's history with the Bears hasn't exactly said he's able to do anything with the WR position, anything other than destroy it that is. No WRs = no QB.
