STP needs to be in here, one of the better 90's bands:

Me too, and I always thought that was a shame.

Some of the session recordings he did that went unreleased are pretty top notch. I still consider him a guitar virtuoso before that became a buzz word.

Bolin definitely was one of the first guitarists to take it "outside the box" sad that he kinda got lost in the 70's. At least he is getting a revival by some of the guitar players today.

Saw these guys several times in their prime. One of the few bands that you felt like you were sitting in your living room with your head phones on. Keep thinking they might make it into the R&R Hall one of these days.

They are still touring, but I wouldn't want to see them w/o full orchestration...same goes for the Alan Parsons Project. This is the way I would like to experience the Moody Blues:

Funk is kind of considered a subset of rock and jazz combined, and can sound similar to either one which would explain the album label (along with the fact it probably had some jazz on it); however, funk is mostly it's own thing at this point.

You know what does groove though? This:

I'm guessing you play.

Isn't a lot of Bolin material jammed up by legal issues? Kind of like some of Bill Withers better stuff, until just recently.

Interesting how the cream does eventually rise, with time.

Edit- **** it:

Yeah...there has been a fair amount that has been held up. But Johnnie has gotten the rights back to almost all of his material.

yeah..i play git fiddle. And used to frequent the bolins back when I was a youngin. So im always probably biased in my opinion. But both of his brothers told me that he was a sponge to everyone who was someone in their respected genres. Im under the belief that there is so much unreleased stuff by all the greats. Okay...ramble done

Very disappointed in this thread. You can't make a music thread and open it with a Rolling Stones song. I thought/was hoping this would about music none of us ever heard of and should check out.

Disappointing

Deep Dicking.
