Cousins is better than Fields still so what does that make Fields?
Cousins threw 16 INTs in only 14 games last year. He absolutely quit on that team after signing that huge contract. He's a piece of trash for that and should rot on the bench somewhere and fade off into obscurity where he belongs.

Cousins didn't quit on the team. He was terrible because his body is breaking down. Maybe another offseason after the Achilles injury allows him to bounce back, but at his age I doubt it

Their GM and Coach will be getting fired if that team isn't competitive this season. Rodgers is the easiest way for them to compete in that division.
What you're saying is the correct answer to the question as to why the Giants would be interested. And it is another indicator of how dumb teams can be.

Rather than advance the fortunes of the team itself, the GM and coach will be in job-saving mode, which only sets the franchise back further. This pattern is repeated around the NFL constantly, and is the worst thing you can do.

The Giants' best case scenario is that Rodgers doesn't suck, the team is less shitty than before, and at the end of the season they have a 42 year old washed up QB, draft lower, and retain a GM and coach who are taking them nowhere.

"Let's keep the GM who jettisoned Saquon, paid a king's ransom to Daniel Jones, and then cut him, and signed a 41 year old douchebag to get us to 8-9 one time." Happy times!

“The Seattle Seahawks were not on anyone’s radar until trading Geno Smith. Now, the Seahawks could be another team that wants in on the Justin Fields sweepstakes. While Bob Condotta of the Seattle Times reports they are out on Russell Wilson, Fields could now be an option for the Seahawks.

On top of that, Gregg Bell of the Tacoma News-Tribune sees Fields as a player who makes a lot of sense for the Seahawks. It seems there might be some smoke behind that.”

Sam Howell is on their roster and gives them as good a chance at winning as the FA's available. And that statement probably sounds worse if you're a Seahawks fan.

I feel the same about the Raiders, I think multiple teams colluded against the Bears last season. Fields should have been worth much more than what Poles got for him. He's going to get paid well this offseason so at least that's a plus for him.
Nobody colluded against the bears. It was just a situation of supply & demand.

He was dreadful down the stretch for them but they literally played each other week 1 in Atlanta and Fields threw for one more yard, took the same number of sacks as Cousins, didn't throw for a pick like Kirk did (Kirk also threw a TD) and ran for 57 yards and the Steelers won on the road.

Not sure it's accepted that Kirk was better than Fields in 2024 and going forward it's more murky.

I don't believe that at all. Feel free to call it a "conspiracy theory" but I'll die on that hill with no regrets. Fields was worth more than a 6th or even a 4th, teams chose not to offer fair compensation because they figured the Bears wouldn't have the balls to keep both QBs. They were right, good for them.

Kirk definitely wasn't better than Fields. I think that's pretty obvious. His body is failing him. He doesn't have the arm strength to hit out routes anymore

Teams colluded against the Bears?

You believe they passed on a QB they felt could help them "to stick it to the Bears" for some unknown reason? Why? How does that make sense?

So, rather than admit teams just don't share your view of Fields, you're claiming they knew he was better, but refused to acquire him ? What???

...the Raiders didn't choose to have an awful qb situation to screw the bears out of a higher draft pick. Teams don't tank seasons to hurt another teams trade return. This is delusional.

At this point... Who cares. He's not a concern for the Bears and what's done is done.
It will be interesting to see what contract he gets this offseason... I'm sure those 6 games in Pittsburgh couldn't have changed the entire NFL's perception of him... maybe he gets 2Y $8M AAV???

I would expect him to get 12-15 mill/yr. Maybe if someone like the Jets is desperate because they have 0 options outside of fields it gets up to 18ish.

Cousins is just cooked physically. He was never a good athlete, just really good at presnap and accurate from the pocket. Once he lost the little bit of arm strength and mobility with the achilles, he was done.

I've seen QB's that could barely lift their arm, and yet they didn't throw up as many dumb and careless passes as Kirk did. Atlanta has a good Oline and good talent to support him. He just didn't give a damn. I guess his brane was breaking down faster than the rest of his body. He suddenly lost his ability to make smart decisions right after signing another undeserved guaranteed contract. He's trash.

This can’t be serious.

I just don’t see a scenario in which teams call each other to screw the Bears out of a mid round pick. Reminds me of Dana Carvey on the police framing OJ:

This is really ridiculous.

Yes, people's brains do break down when their body isn't up to the task and they lose confidence, when they get sped up and unsure of what they see or if they can get the ball where it needs to be like they did before. This is athletes getting old 101.

And I don't like Kirk Cousins at all, never have.

So... he's trash and doesn't deserve to make demands to get play time ✔️
He should be happy that he is well paid and be the best backup possible.
