They have almost no other options. Jones, Rodgers, darnold aren't options. So they choose between declining, aging Russ, waiting out Atl on the corpse of Cousins, or getting a young guy in fields who is at least an explosive athlete. In the draft sanders and ward will both be gone. So they can't walk into the year banking on one of shough/dart/ewers/gabriel/milroe whatever awful qb to be the starting qb.

Dart might be appealing actually, although it would be like the Daniel Jones draft situation all over again. Would Rodgers really follow the exact same path as his predecessor Butt Favors? That would be hilarious.

Dart should be like a 4th round pick. Some bad qbs are going to go way too early out of desperation this year

So... he's trash and doesn't deserve to make demands to get play time ✔️
He should be happy that he is well paid and be the best backup possible.
Yes, of course. He is a *****.

Fields was the top option for both Pittsburgh and the Jets.

Getsy and Eberflus have both been fired and Poles has been finally addressing the OL with actual talent now that he has a coach worth a damn.

The Bears failed Justin and Caleb more than Caleb and Justin failed the Bears and I think both dudes are going to ball out next year.

I think there's a pretty good chance that PIT takes Sanders at #21. And imo that is way too early. Ward is the only R1 level QB prospect this year and I'd put him around 15 probably, even in a weak draft.

I still think IND is the best fit and always has been.

Will Justin Fields and Jaxon Smith-Njigba Reunite?

“The desire to team up again in the NFL is mutual on Smith-Njigba's end, who was touched by Fields advocating for him.

"Since he’s been in Chicago, we’ve always talked about it," Smith-Njigba said Friday during his combine interviews. "Him being like a big brother to me, I definitely appreciate it, coming from a guy like that."

As it stands, there doesn't seem to be a path for the tandem to reunite, considering the Bears own the No. 1 overall pick and don't pick again until late in the second round, and Smith-Njigba projects as a mid to late first-round pick. But it's common knowledge the Bears are shopping the first overall pick and could potentially earn a package that could help them land Smith-Njigba if they so choose.

"Just being at practice with him, making plays," Smith-Njigba said of why he has a great connection with Fields. "Getting open in practice for him and catching the ball and just doing what I do. And him doing what he does. I feel like we definitely have a little connection back in the day, but hopefully, we can maybe do it again.

"He’s whatever you need him to be. He’s a great passer. He has a great arm, great eyes, great vision, reads the defense very well."”

Would be a good mix with JF likely comfortable throwing /trusting JSN over the middle or in traffic.

I doubt sanders is there at #21, but i agree, thats too high for him. He's not a 1st round talent and only being drafted that way due to his father.

I still have this feeling that sanders also goes top 7, and that the steelers take milroe with #21.

Who else could he pin his hopes to?

It is a weak FA QB field that for sure.
I just wouldn't do it if my job was on the line.
Of course, I would never, ever had selected Richardson.
That was just a moronic pick even at the time.

I just don't think there's anyone he can get who gives them a better chance.

The GM that drafted him and then tries to trade him two years later should be fired. EVERYONE knew that Richardson was going to be a project before the draft. What's worse than being arrogant, is trying to shift blame elsewhere rather than taking ownership of the mistake you made. They should be on the hook for actually developing Richardson into a decent player, instead of trying to distance themselves from the failure.

That’s the best option for anyone. They have solid talent. Richardson is just garbage.
Funny thing is, he had moments where he looked pretty good as a rookie — better than I thought he would be and showed glimpses of superstar potential. But after the way he played last year all of that went away. He was awful. Downright dreadful.

He was clearly playing above his head as a rookie. All of it was a false positive.
