Despite all the hats in the ring, if I had to place a bet today —— Fields to the Jets.

Reports are they really want him. Like really, really want him. They reportedly love his leadership abilities and believe “his best football is ahead of him”.

If it was me, those words would be my key. I would rule out any team that just wants me as a stop gap option. I would choose the team that believes in me so much that they believe my best football has been untapped and is ahead of me.

If it were me... and I was Justin I'd say...

The GM that drafted him and then tries to trade him two years later should be fired. EVERYONE knew that Richardson was going to be a project before the draft. What's worse than being arrogant, is trying to shift blame elsewhere rather than taking ownership of the mistake you made. They should be on the hook for actually developing Richardson into a decent player, instead of trying to distance themselves from the failure.
I don't think this is shifting blame as much as coming to terms with his own mistake but 15 games?
I suppose Shanny dumped Lance after years and 4 games and I don't recall people calling for heads. However, he did already have his replacement.

Glenn saw up close what Justin was for us - it's no shock that he's in on him.

That's only because Shanny was able to have a successful team despite the Lance debacle. The Colts have done nothing worthy of ignoring this much of a mistake. Their GM was in prime position to move up for a QB in 2023 and spoke very confidently about not being willing to do it.

I see it as shifting all the blame to Richardson and looking to save face. He was exhausted after a long run and requested to come out of a game to take a breather and ever since they have tried to cast a shadow over the guy like its all on him. I always thought he was a bad choice personally but he is going to the same QB mechanics coach that fixed Josh Allen, so at least he is trying to improve and isn't a lazy bum that is just sitting on his money.

Remember. Fields always gave Glenn trouble as the Lions DC.

I agree with all that. The only question would be as to what his best becomes.

I'm not saying it isn't that but he may also be sucking it up and genuinely think Richardson is a dead end.

If I'm Justin - it's less about money and more about opportunity. I want to have a monster year in a place that believes in me and I want a proper QB contract.
Too risky to sign another 1Y prove it deal imo. He should take the most guaranteed money available to him this year.

I am positive that he will project it as "We are taking responsibility"... but that's B.S. because it's only been two years and less than a full season of games played. No way in hell have they done enough to develop the guy. They simply want to abandon a plan that they started in hopes of buying themselves more time.

I don't believe that at all. Feel free to call it a "conspiracy theory" but I'll die on that hill with no regrets. Fields was worth more than a 6th or even a 4th, teams chose not to offer fair compensation because they figured the Bears wouldn't have the balls to keep both QBs. They were right, good for them.
So a team that wanted Fields was not willing to give up more than a 4/6th round pick because they wanted to collude against the Bears?

When he was DCord for Detroit Aaron Glenn and his defensive players were probably like “dang, not this guy again” — as they preparing for Fields. AG was probably dreaming of the day when he could try to harness and properly coach up all that talent.

We shall see….. we shall see…. the fun starts next week

LOL... come on now JF trolls... 2024 and the great "Haul" that never was are all in the rearview mirror, lets hold hands and sing Kum bay yaah in our Caleb jerseys.

If people want to believe that NFL GM's and front offices don't speak to each other behind the scenes, that's fine. These multi-billion dollar organizations would never collude to gain an advantage in their day to day business operations. I'm just as certain as you all, that the Adam Schefter's and Ian Rapport's of the world only get their insider information right before they send out a tweet.

Why would any "honorable" organization or even their fans, attempt to get more for less? I mean that's not the American way amirite?

The Justin horse is dead... but when you find someone that doesn't fall in line with the "winners"... Take more shots if you can..

I am not sure if this has already been mentioned but… captain obvious — THE MONEY MATTERS…… why?

Not just for obvious reasons — but it ensures JF is likely the #1 guy. Teams don’t typically make a major investment only to hand that person a clip board.

Fields wants QB1 assurance. If reports are true that the Steelers are playing a little bit of hardball, then that is pretty good sign that he should test the market/go elsewhere.

If Fields can succeed with the Jets, he’ll finally have one over on Rodgers!

Doesn’t it go without saying that any team interested in him believes his best football is ahead of him?

Not trying to be funny but if any team felt he could not do as well in the future as what little he has shown thus far, they would not be interested.

I guess if you consider what Richardson has shown so far as “showing flashes of superstar“ it explains why you’re convinced JF will be one.

Don't be fooled by the ability to occasionally launch one a mile, or run for a modest gain. Athleticism is a good thing but it’s not what makes a QB a superstar. It raises one's floor, but not the ceiling.

Reading defenses, throwing with anticipation, throwing accurately.....that sets QBs apart.

Being able to run away from the pocket after not being able to figure out who was going to be open or see who is open will turn some negative plays into positive ones. But they don't make every athletic dude into a truly good NFL QB.
