And the Bulls FO chose to break up that dynasty prematurely.
So you'd rather have Jordan and Pippen completely break down, wither and die, and the Bulls end up sucking by 2003 anyways?
They have chosen not to resign good young players.
Who didn't they resign? Jamal Crawford? Eddy Curry? Ben Gordon? How did they all work out as prime pieces to their new teams?
They did sign Tyson Chandler, Luol Deng, Kirk Hinrich (In 2006, not now), Joakim Noah, and Derrick Rose. They traded Chandler a year after his contract began because they signed Ben Wallace to a mammoth contract.
Reinsdorf has made it clear. Basketball is not very important to him. Is it really the owners fault that key FAs had iinjury issues? Is it Reinsdorfs fault Rose tore his ACL?
Are you indicating it is? Because I'm not clear on the point you're making here with injuries?
What even worse is they broke up that Bulls dynasty in spite of all players involved sayiing theyd be willing to sign one year contracts and gladly leave once they lost to another team. None of the core players asked for long term deals.
You have to remember that Reinsdorf believed in Krause, and that every player hated Krause. Phil Jackson also knew Krause had Tim Floyd waiting in the wings and tried to get Floyd as an assistant coach a few times, to which Jackson rejected. Now in today's pussified NBA, the players own everything and get their say and want in absolutely everything. That wasn't the case in 1999. The point is Phil Jackson had had it with Krause, Jordan wasn't going to play without Phil Jackson, and the team went bust after that.
You can blame Reinsdorf for having Krause's back, but given the facts at the time, there was no reason to believe that Krause couldn't build up a winner again at that point in time as he had clearly been able to assemble a championship squad.
Dolan couldve easily broke up the Knicks and started from scratch. He opted to buiild on the fly.. didnt go cheap and hire unknown coaches. Actually spent big money on FAs. And even when it backfired, he still tried.
And again...How well has that worked out for the Knicks? Do you think its good that they've replaced their coach nearly every two years since then?
D'Antoni was a household name. Hell the Bulls almost had him (Glad as hell we did not). He failed miserably in New York. Lenny Wilkins, failed. Larry Brown, failed., Isiah Thomas, failed.
Give me one year where you could look at the whole scope of the knicks situation and arrive at the conclusion it was because of his lack of effort from Dolan
There is a case known as trying a little too hard..or trying but making the dumbest of dumb decisions in the process. All that needs to be said about the Knicks is Isiah Thomas.
