If anyone should drop the gloves, it should be Sharp. He's been useless thus far, and his scoring touch seems to have left him. Time to reinvent his career as a brawler IMO. He definitely won't get another payday because of his sick wristers that miss everything.

I think the Hawks have proved that staying level-headed beats out the teams that get jacked up on fighting/goonery. If anything, refusing to fight probably pisses those teams off even more, lol.

Other team: "Da FUQ?! U WANN GO?! IM GON PUNCH U FACE! "

Hawks: "Nah"

Next shift they score, look over at the opposing bench and go:

:hawkstroll:

One of my favorite Hawks games earlier in this run was back in 2011, during their almost-comeback against the Canucks. Vancouver completely fucking imploded in Game 4, allowing the Hawks to score six goals in the row. As Vancouver set up a conga line to the penalty box, the Hawks just kept lighting them up on the scoreboard.

Love hockey fighting and nobody can tell me not to enjoy it. Could give two shits about the debate on if it serves a purpose or not i still love it. Never going to take it out of the league completely yet it will never be the same as it used to be but thats okay. The organic fights have always been the best and rules cant make the organic go away. Cant take competition out of sport and true competition creates organic emotions and spazz outs which is amazing!!

There were fights these playoffs esp in the first round when guys are a little bit more healthy overall. Dont see it more in the later rounds because playoff hockey becomes a mental game as much as a physical one and most guys come the cup final are mentally locked in to the system and game plans and already physically beat. Completely different when you are talking about game 26 of the regular season where things are looser on the ice and systems are less structured.

First time I've seen this point made about the disappearance of fights in the Stanley Cup Playoffs and think it's a good one.

I was talking about Sharp with someone the other day.

Piece of advice for Sharp: Don't let the door hit you or Bickell on the way out... both are done, IMO.

I'm guessing you disagree?

Do you still view Sharp as an elite scoring option? I haven't for 2 years.

What he means is that everybody is a troll except for mods on here.

He was the team's leading goal scorer last year. This was the first year I thought he took a bit of a step back. The part about reinventing himself as a brawler though seemed particularly fit for that picture.

He's an elite scoring option or he has been usesless? Yeah I guess a fighting thread is perfect for it to result to that type of contrast

He would be if he was paired with an elite scorer.
He's a good line compliment, and will be for a few more years. He'll end up making a 1/2 decent winger on a team he allows the Hawks to trade him to. I think he would do well as an Oiler.

Funny thing is Sharp use to fight and play chippy a long time ago, the first 3-4 years with the Hawks especially. Way back when Havlat was the "star" and he played with Rene Bourque on the 3rd line.

These days, not so much.

Yup. I remember plenty of Sharp scraps.
He did okay in most of them.
Lots of man-hugging.

Maybe if Toews dropped the gloves it would get him going finally. He has been absolutely pathetic the entire postseason.

Maybe if you troll this point again it will finally become interesting or funny. Maybe.

For awhile I thought Sharp was exactly the guy who more NHL teams needed: a player who can actually play hockey that still wasn't afraid to drop the gloves if need be. Had a brief tilt with future teammate Kopecky back in the day.
